no penalty at all just an extra day or two of rest to get his head screwed on straight

Starting pitchers should get 11-day suspensions so they actually miss a start.

Ragans to the IL with elbow impingement

Ragans to the IL with elbow impingement

After two TS and injury filled 2025...that high velo/increased work load finally caught up with him.

The Guardians demoted catcher Bo Naylor to make room for SFG's Patrick Bailey. The underachieving San Francisco Giants decided to shake up things early, trading Gold Glove catcher Patrick Bailey to the Cleveland Guardians for left-handed pitching prospect Matt Wilkinson and their first-round pick, No. 29, in this year's draft...

Hedges remains the primary backup.

29th Pick, 2026 MLB Draft

Because it is a competitive balance pick, the Guardians are allowed to trade this pick. It is the first of the competitive balance picks, and comes with a $3.27 million bonus allotment. The Giants already had the fourth overall pick. Adding this to their draft pool means they now have a $17.35 million total bonus pool that ranks fourth most, not far behind the White Sox, who pick first overall....

Bailey is great defensively, but so is Hedges. Neither hits much typically, though Bailey is ice cold to start the year (under .400 OPS) and Hedges as been (for his standards) red hot.

Pretty clear they are very out on Bo Naylor behind the plate, Bailey maybe the long term Hedges replacement as a glove first C.

Hedges is out hitting his recent career numbers by a mile.

It's like expecting Conforto to keep up a 1.197 ops.

DET vs. KC and CLE vs. MIN going on simultaneously, potential to shake up the standings

Weird that the Sox have only played 1 series in the division so far, by this time last year they were 2-17 in division.

The top of the division looks a bit weaker with the Sox not donating everyone a free sweep or two

Please make more trades like that, Guardians. Maybe one with the Sox.

They would never give the Sox that biggest draft pool in the history of the sport to work with ... not when the Sox are sticking around right on their heels.

Tigers are 2-11 since Skubal went down

DET has now lost 4 game sweeps to both the Twins and Guards, which is...not great for their division odds.

Would have been nice for them to put up at least a little resistance to Cleveland's momentum.

Now a race against time to get Skubal back before July 31st so they can trade him if this team trend continues.

Not sure how much cooperation they will get from player/agent looking ahead at that potential $325-375 million deal as the main pending FA.

Like Robert, this past offseason might have been best time of move him, but fans would have led with pitchforks and torches after last two post seasons.

I think Skubal and Boras have every intention of him returning ASAP, but I'm very curious to see what Detroit does if the AL continues to underperform.

If they are still 7+ games under but think 83 wins might be enough for a wildcard, do they keep Skubal to go for it or cash out before he walks in FA?

They’re giving Snell a two month timeline with similar injury.

I'll allow it. They are pretty much dead and buried. Their expected wins is now about even with ours around 78. They remind me a bit of our 81-81 season that led to another rebuild. Wasted a bunch of money on FA duds and a bunch of dudes just turned out to be not that good position player wise -- and injuries of course.

Just don't want Cleveland pulling too far away. Sox don't play them until June, and it's more fun if we're going into it still within a few games.

Twins with a decent stretch to climb into WC3.

Sox still have 1.5 games on them, but they face each other 7 out of the next 10.

  • Author

Guards have scored 3 runs or fewer for 8 games straight.

They are 5-3 in that time.

Such an annoying team.
