May 9May 9 The Guardians demoted catcher Bo Naylor to make room for SFG's Patrick Bailey. The underachieving San Francisco Giants decided to shake up things early, trading Gold Glove catcher Patrick Bailey to the Cleveland Guardians for left-handed pitching prospect Matt Wilkinson and their first-round pick, No. 29, in this year's draft...Hedges remains the primary backup.29th Pick, 2026 MLB DraftBecause it is a competitive balance pick, the Guardians are allowed to trade this pick. It is the first of the competitive balance picks, and comes with a $3.27 million bonus allotment. The Giants already had the fourth overall pick. Adding this to their draft pool means they now have a $17.35 million total bonus pool that ranks fourth most, not far behind the White Sox, who pick first overall....https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/giants-acquire-matt-tugboat-wilkinson-no-29-pick-for-patrick-bailey/ Edited May 9May 9 by caulfield12

May 9May 9 Author Bailey is great defensively, but so is Hedges. Neither hits much typically, though Bailey is ice cold to start the year (under .400 OPS) and Hedges as been (for his standards) red hot.Pretty clear they are very out on Bo Naylor behind the plate, Bailey maybe the long term Hedges replacement as a glove first C.

May 10May 10 Author DET vs. KC and CLE vs. MIN going on simultaneously, potential to shake up the standingsWeird that the Sox have only played 1 series in the division so far, by this time last year they were 2-17 in division. The top of the division looks a bit weaker with the Sox not donating everyone a free sweep or two

May 21May 21 Author DET has now lost 4 game sweeps to both the Twins and Guards, which is...not great for their division odds.Would have been nice for them to put up at least a little resistance to Cleveland's momentum.

They are pretty much dead and buried. Their expected wins is now about even with ours around 78. They remind me a bit of our 81-81 season that led to another rebuild. Wasted a bunch of money on FA duds and a bunch of dudes just turned out to be not that good position player wise -- and injuries of course.

Sox don't play them until June, and it's more fun if we're going into it still within a few games.
May 23May 23 Author Twins with a decent stretch to climb into WC3.Sox still have 1.5 games on them, but they face each other 7 out of the next 10.
May 28May 28 Author Guards have scored 3 runs or fewer for 8 games straight. They are 5-3 in that time.Such an annoying team.
