6 hours ago6 hr MLB Trade RumorsRays, White Sox Swap Joe Rock For Oliver DunnThe Rays and White Sox agree to a one-for-one swap of bullpen for infield depth. MLB Trade Rumors has more on the deal.
6 hours ago6 hr I like this pickup. Dunno was never going to see the roster. RP with a lot of strikeouts and a decent ratio. Could contribute at the major league level soon. Could be an Eisert replacement
6 hours ago6 hr Joe Rock, love the name.6'6" high draft pick, hard throwing lefty needing a reset. Matt Thrornton comes to mind.
5 hours ago5 hr 93 average fastball. I guess that's better than Eisert's 91, but Sox could use some velocity. And another trade with the Rays.
4 hours ago4 hr Wait.. Sox actually got younger in a trade? And traded a utility guy for a pitcher at that?! You ok Getz?

2 hours ago2 hr Rock is getting a lot more whiff this season in AAA than he has gotten before. That is coming at a big price in that he's posting walk numbers that make Hagen Smith look like Greg Maddux. Just glancing at the Statcast data, seems that he's gained a good bit of extension this season whilst throwing slightly more overhand. Not sure that it's been a great tradeoff. The command metrics are trending in the right direction, though. In May, he's got 6.2 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 11 K. Whiff rate way down, zone rate way up, effectiveness pretty fine. Sox pitching brain trust likes guys with weird releases and Rock is a big dude (think Hudson) who doesn't throw that hard (think Hudson), is left-handed (think Hudson), throws from a low arm slot (think Hudson), gets a surprising amount of strikeouts given the stuff (think Hudson), but has been limited by command (think Hudson). Unlike Hudson, Rock had always been a starter until late last season.
