What is up with Grant Taylor

Grant Taylor was considered our closer and our closer for the future. Why is will bringing him in the 7th the last 2 games. This is not his role. Dominguez is better in this role Dominguez has blown his last amsavs opportunity’s need to flip their roles I get the strategy to bring him to face the top hitters but it’s not working

Mostly bc just like Willy V pulled Martin early yesterday, he still doesn’t have a handle on how to manage his staff.

Doesn’t matter what role you’re in in life. Consistency is key. If I’m a manager at a store and I switch the duties of my mid day to my closer, they have to adjust. Baseball isn’t much different. The mindset differs based on when they’re coming in. Saying it’s their job to “get outs” minimizes the spot they’re brought into the game.

Defined roles benefit all of them, but especially for a young guy.

Seems that 6 day lull didn’t do him any favors or he’s hitting a wall that is bringing some fatigue

Guessing the combination of the fact that he had a week off, and then didn't extend to 2 innings means the latter.

Could have wanted other cold guys to get some work too as a reason for not extending it another inning for Taylor.

They have done him no favors in regards to consistency in a Role

I try to remind myself that he barely has any innings under his arm and is kind of learning on the fly.

Honestly, I thought early in the season that Anthony was here to be traded at the deadline, which is why they put him at closer to build his trade value. But as the season has gone on, and the games have actually gotten more important, I am at a loss for what is actually happening here.

It was also of note that even the CSN post game show did a whole breakdown on how Taylor was way better in save situations, and Anthony was way better in non-save situations. Was kind of surprised to see the questioning of the management on their own network, but it was good information.

Taylor needs to be closing as much as possible, but I feel like Venable is either trying to get cute with how he uses these guys (which burns him damn near every time) or he's getting told what to do from upper management
