The announcers (including Steve Stone doing a national game) were talking about the pitchers being affected by the delay, fake start time, and second delay, but it seemed like the defenders were affected more. Sloppy play, brain farts, etc. But, these are the type of games they need to win. And they did. When I saw Hicks warming up, I was like "oh s%*#." Luckily they kept Newcomb in, and he threw like 8 pitches and shut the door.Bad luck with the wet field in the first inning and infield seemed to affect Vargas and Colson, but those plays have to be made. Meidroth had a couple head scratchers too, one leading to the 3 run inning and that stupid glove flip late that could have opened the door had Gonzo not been alert. And of course Teal had a number of issues the entire series. Lets hope he's just a little rusty behind the dish as so far him and the staff are doing nothing to shut down any opponent's run game. We would have swept the Guardians with a reliable closer. The D was nothing to write home about today. With Mune back , we should be able to increase run production to minimize high leverage closing situations. IMO.The gopher balls don't hurt as much if you don't walk guys and give extra outs before the gopher balls.
