December 5, 200322 yr I was just watching the local news here in Boston and the sportscaster mentioned that Eddie Guardado told the Red Sox he'd be willing to come here for less money if he was guaranteed the closer job. This only muddies up the whole situation even further, but I'd certainly love to see Steady Eddie elsewhere next year. These next couple weeks are certainly going to be crazy.... By the way - the Boston media is going F***ING NUTS over the Manny/A-Rod trade. Its all they talked about the past week....

December 5, 200322 yr If the Twins lose their best two relievers, this division is looking more and more likely to go our way. But we shouldn't sit pat and hope to win by default.

EXACTLY right, but the longer they sit and wait, the more it looks like they're hoping that Minny will downsize themselves out of the race. Problem is, if the Sox don't OWN KC next year, and if KC wasn't a fluke, it could just become a matter of finishing second behind a different team.
