December 17, 200322 yr Who's Mike Neu? Neva heard of him bf. The Florida Marlins traded pitcher Mark Redman to Oakland for reliever Mike Neu on Tuesday night in yet another offseason move by the World Series champions. Redman was 14-9 with a 3.59 ERA last season for the Marlins, then was 0-1 with a 6.50 ERA in four postseason starts. He was one of seven arbitration-eligible players that the Marlins had to offer a contract before Saturday. The Marlins will also receive another player or cash to complete the deal, team spokesman Steve Copses said. Since winning the championship, the Marlins have traded first baseman Derrek Lee and outfielder Juan Encarnacion and parted ways with catcher Ivan Rodriguez and closer Ugueth Urbina. Neu had one save and a 3.64 ERA in 32 relief appearances last season for Oakland. He played college baseball for the University of Miami, earning three saves while helping the Hurricanes to the 1999 College World Series title. The Athletics traded starter Ted Lilly to Toronto earlier in the offseason.
December 17, 200322 yr Bean does it again. Florida got screwed in this deal. They traded a solid pitcher for an average reliver...who only appeared in 32 games with a 3.64 ERA. Unless this player to announced later is some stud then Florida really got the short end of this deal.
December 17, 200322 yr Beane is gonna try and move him for a prospect and if he can't he will just non tender him...at least thats my guess.
December 17, 200322 yr why would beane trade him, his starting rotation is zito, mulder hudson and now redman, does it even matter who there # 5 is???
December 17, 200322 yr why would beane trade him, his starting rotation is zito, mulder hudson and now redman, does it even matter who there # 5 is??? Not really.......except that 5th starter goes by the name of Dick Harden. Leading up the game in which he lost (against the Sox of all people) Harden was pitching very well. Since that game I lost track of how he finished, but regardless of any slide he might of endured most teams would take this guy as a 3, 4.

He's got a fine career ahead of him. Easily most teams 3 or 4 starter next year.
December 17, 200322 yr Watch Redman get less than half of what Mark Burhle got... Why would that surprise you? Buehrle is about 3 times better than Mark Redman.

December 17, 200322 yr I only wish we had a solid 4-man rotation like they do. We could have had that, but we wanted Toad Ritchie instead. Pfffft. Kenny will NEVER live that down. NEVER. When you send a retarded monkey to do a man's job ........
