I just think that by definition if 2 out of 3 friends like it it lost the "indie" feel and is a sell out.

I can relate: if a "friend" of mine likes Pearl Harbor and Bad Boys 2 instead of Last Tango in Paris or Fargo, he/she can go f*** themselves.

[/only slight exaggeration]

Sounds pretty kick ass to me. Can't wait to hav a look at ur site when it's up, the internet radio is another great idea as well.

raaaaaaadio free-europe ;)

Yessiree, give me the Murmur/Reckoning/Fables/Document era REM any day and I'm happy. But stuff drom Green -- Pop Song 89, Crush, even Stand, still curl my toes when I hear them.

yeah, REM has some good stuff on most of their discs, but I also like the earlier stuff better. I think I like the production on the early stuff better - it's not too clean and polished, and Stipe was still mumbling his lyrics, which I prefer from him.

...and Stipe was still mumbling his lyrics, which I prefer from him.

I miss the mumbling too. Mostly, I liked the Stipe/Mike Mills melody/countermelody song structure that their best early stuff had. Fall On Me, Rotary 9, Driver 8, Radio-free Europe, 7 Chinese Brothers (near all of Reckoning, actually)...

The truth was that the style is pretty damn easy from a compositional standpoint... OK, you go home and think of a melody to sing over this chord progression and I'll do the same, then we'll come back and sing them BOTH at the same time. Although they were the first I recall doing lot's of this, LOTS of college bands started copying it and it got done to death. Driving and Crying comes to mind as a tag-along example, among others.

Hey PA, I just checked out mambo open source...another very cool program like that for you to check out is postnuke.

www.postnuke.com

Its very similar, but I think postnuke is used on a much more widescale basis, although I could be wrong. Either way both are very similar programs so I think it depends soley on the look and feel you want.

Futuresox is ran off postnuke. And then a 3rd one I know of is geeklog, not as good, imo, but its very solid too.

YA jason son... (my best begood impression)

the criticism I've heard about postnuke is, however, that more or less each site ends up having the same look as the others, where as mambo is more versatile. At least from the 2 websites I've looked at. My bro is the computer geek, I just watch what he does.

Ya, I noticed with mambo its a lot more easy to have two areas, instead of the left area, a middle area, and a right area which is what postnuke sites seem to have, unless you are a very good programmer and can do a lot of work.

I'd trust your bro, he's a programmer, I"m a hack :D

the fact that I could sit down right now and make my site look like that page, makes me really happy. Not that that page is particularily great...but have you SEEN billythepoet.com? I redefine the meaning of "lo-fi" websites

Just my two cents worth, but "Independent-Transfusion" is my idea for your name.

The domain hasn't been taken (at least I didn't see it taken - I did a web search), and the title "Independent-Transfusion" states and symbolizes two things :

1. The fact that you promote independents.

2. You are part of, and are doing a "tranfusion" - in other words, your independents are infusing some NEW BLOOD into the music industry.

A possible logo could have musical notes floating through an IV tube along with some kind of "colorful" or "colored" fluid, or something to that effect.

That's just my thoughts.

past time...while I don't necessarily like that a domain name...I kinda like it as a marketing slogan. remind me down the road that you should get a free subscription :)

yes....yes you are:)

So is that your bands name or are you kind of a one man act. Sometime today, since I'm home sick I'm gonna listen to the songs you have up on that site.

That way I can knowingly say you stink

it's a one man band. I prefer to avoid the potential slash/axle, richards/mcjagger, Ashcroft/mccabe references...

tell me what you think. I did that stuff last summer in an attempt to go from lo-lo-fi to hi-lo-fi...

one day I'll be produce something worthy of the pentium pro II I play music on....

did you take a listen?

Very solid. You seem to play a good guitar. The songs were a little slower then my typical liking, but you can play.

I kind of figured that. Its probably pretty hard to be an quicker tempo when its a one man band.

Have you ever been in a band or always a one man act?

I do alot of different settings. I play guitar, bass, piano and sing, so I've done all of those in bands and by myself.

wes burdine

that's my bro's music. I played bass on his record which comes out this month.

Ross King

I play guitar, bass, keys, and sing with this guy. (in his band) I'll be touring with him from June 4th - July 24.

I play my stuff for friends and for miss sox4life. I'm not a big fan of my stuff, I just figure I need to document my feelings in some form...most of the time I write crap and throw it away.

I play drums at a friends house from time to time, always fun bashin da hell out of it. I'm actually thinkin bout buyin a new drum kit but I just had to pay car rego. for da year so that's gonna hav to wait a while.
