January 14, 200422 yr Cubs offered Mad Dog a 2 year deal... linky below on espn http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1708221
January 15, 200422 yr If the cubs get this guy, it's a good counter move from the Clemens signing..If they do sign him. Both those teams are gonna have a strong rotation 1-5. Hopefully some of the pitchers on our team and prospects can crank it up a notch for this season.
January 15, 200422 yr Who cares? And why is this in "Pale Hose Talk"? Don't take any offense, SFF, I was just sayin it would be better suited for the Sports Bar because I'm sick of people talkin about the Cubs and how great they are in "Pale Hose Talk"
January 15, 200422 yr Author Sorry about that, I just posted it without thinking about it. Thought people would be interested because it was baseball news and a lot of people were wondering where Maddux was going and wondering why he hasn't signed with anyone yet. My bad
January 15, 200422 yr f*** Maddux is right. Hope he doesnt get his 300th win as a Cub....because then I would vomit from all the local media attention. :fthecubs
January 15, 200422 yr And if he does end up on the Cubs, I can't wait to light him up at the Cell next summer.
January 15, 200422 yr Maddux doesn't seem to excited about the offer. It does sound like the Mets could swoop in with a better offer. After missing out on Vlad they have about $10 mil to burn. Plus he might like the idea of reuniting with Tom Glavine.
January 15, 200422 yr I also just noticed that the Sun Times had the Cubs making a $12 mil offer for two years, and the Trib said it was 2 years at $15 mil. That is a big difference, I wonder which one is true?
January 15, 200422 yr MO on this... Maddux may not take it because of Andy and Roger signing in Houston. Regardless, those 2 are potent pitchers. Maddux may look the Mets way as to not be in the same division and deal with the competition.
January 15, 200422 yr Actually, there's a lot of non-Sox MLB chatter on Pale Hose Talk, which I do NOT mind, to tell you the truth. I wouldn't even mind if the PHT board was renamed "Pale Hose and MLB Talk". It'd be easier to have all MLB related posts on one forum than flip-flopping back and forth from PHT to the Sports Bar and back all the time. I mostly come here to bash the SlackHawks - nice THREE-SHOT second period against the Winged Wheel, by the way....no fluke victory over Detroit last night! 2 wins, 4 losses vs. Detroit for the season series, just as it should be. Red Wings = great NHL franchise, great RECENT past successes, committed to winning Slack Hawks = great DISTANT past, let top players get away on a regular basis, committed to a lockout in September.
