January 20, 200422 yr Did you ever wonder why, when a major league ballplayer has a no-trade clause, and lists teams that he would play for, that the Whitesox are NEVER one of the teams he'd play for? Why do you think that is?
January 20, 200422 yr Nope, never wondered. I do wonder how they get the cream filling inside of a twinkee, now there's a mystery.
January 20, 200422 yr Yea I wondered that before and the answer: When is the last time the WS have won a WS or a Playoff series in that. Players with no trade clauses only want to go to winning teams.
January 20, 200422 yr Players with no trade clauses only want to go to winning teams. Which is exactly why Troy Percival has a no-trade clause to both New York teams and both Canadien teams, and why, for Brian Giles, San Diego was on his list of teams he did not have to waive his no-trade clause. It is not always about winning, whether or not we want to admit it. Sometimes it is about playing close to home, sometimes it's about not wanting to go to a city, and sometimes it's about winning.

January 20, 200422 yr there is no way that we have any idea of whether this is true or not we need to have all the contracts that have no trade clauses in them and then need to look at which teams are named - since we have no idea of what is in those contracts other than the occasional deal that surfaces, this topic is based on one huge assumption that no one knows what percentage validity it has if it has any at all
January 20, 200422 yr I think it mostly revolves around personal issues, when players have families they want to have plans as to where they are going and want to be compensated if they waive these clauses
January 20, 200422 yr ever wonder why the sox were 9th in ticket prices and somewhere around 25th in salary???

January 21, 200422 yr Author ever wonder why the sox were 9th in ticket prices and somewhere around 25th in salary??? And the owner(s) still "cries poor"?!
January 21, 200422 yr ever wonder why the sox were 9th in ticket prices and somewhere around 25th in salary??? Not the reason why, but I would guess a lot of those ticket sales came from half-off nights.
January 21, 200422 yr Not the reason why, but I would guess a lot of those ticket sales came from half-off nights. alot of teams have half nights and stuff though....KC has a 5 dollar ticket and 5 dollar parking plan..that includes free hot dogs...i think thats on thursdays for them....
