January 23, 200422 yr i would be more concerned about how the team performs for the manager then about what he is saying to a good friend who just happens to be employed by our rivals...do the teams backman manages play above expectations , to expectations, or below them???....if it's the first , then we made a mistake in letting him go
January 23, 200422 yr Rex.. don't argue with that one. The next thing you know there will be a rumor about your "spare tire"!! And a twenty page thread complete with songs about it!
January 23, 200422 yr Rex.. don't argue with that one. The next thing you know there will be a rumor about your "spare tire"!! Sad thing is, that whole "big butts" thread could have been about me.
January 23, 200422 yr Sad thing is, that whole "big butts" thread could have been about me. In fact I think it was. Or maybe you can have a thread full of things consisting of Ozzies dick in your mouth. That is if you ever disagree with Steff's opinions.
January 23, 200422 yr I agree with you. I was on the Ozzie was a mistake bandwagon, as soon as I heard his hiring press confrence. Backman's teams always win. They always overachieve. I wouldn't have minded giving him a try here. It is always much easier to take that stance. Usually that stance will prove you correct. The negative way out is usually the way to go if you care about being right. Which from this comment it does seem to be what you care about. Always arguing what we should have done. Who cares about what we should have done. What is done is done. I think if Backman was hired after the rumor of these comments got out his team wouldn't think the same about him. Just my opinion.
January 23, 200422 yr In fact I think it was. Or maybe you can have a thread full of things consisting of Ozzies dick in your mouth. That is if you ever disagree with Steff's opinions. Naa.. Rex disagrees with me all the time. He's just not an ignorant dips*** about it.
January 23, 200422 yr In fact I think it was. Or maybe you can have a thread full of things consisting of Ozzies dick in your mouth. That is if you ever disagree with Steff's opinions. Think about rephrasing yourself in the future...It would be in your best judgment to do so.
January 23, 200422 yr Naa.. Rex disagrees with me all the time. He's just not an ignorant dips*** about it. Thanks............................... I think? LOL
January 23, 200422 yr Thanks............................... I think? LOL But of course... Nothing but respect for you..
January 23, 200422 yr I think if Backman was hired after the rumor of these comments got out his team wouldn't think the same about him. Just my opinion. Won't disagree with you there. I said all along that I did not think he and KW would mix well. While I never thought Wally would get the job, I hate to see him taking shots for the Gardenhire crap. Wally is not perfect and he was probably too aggressive in letting it be known that he wanted to be the next Sox manager. He probably rubbed some people in the Sox org the wrong way which led to all of this. Unfortunately, he was an unbelievable manager who the players loved to play for, and he is gone from our org.
January 23, 200422 yr In case anyone's wondering about what happened to Backman, here's the original thread from when it happened: http://www.soxtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=10932&hl=
January 23, 200422 yr Naa.. Rex disagrees with me all the time. He's just not an ignorant dips*** about it. Thank you Steff. I thought we were supposed to be at peace with each other. Hey, whatever floats your boat sweetness.
January 23, 200422 yr Think about rephrasing yourself in the future...It would be in your best judgment to do so. I would love to as long as the other party involved does so as well. I have no problem with anyone. It seems as though someone else has a problem with me. I am glad you think I should just lay back and take it, however that is not going to happen.
January 23, 200422 yr Thank you Steff. I thought we were supposed to be at peace with each other. Hey, whatever floats your boat sweetness. You might want to take a course in internet emotions.. this guy -> means "laughing"

January 23, 200422 yr You might want to take a course in internet emotions.. this guy -> means "laughing" I know what it means. I didn't find it funny. How about I call you an ignorant dips*** then laugh my ass off about it. Sound good to you? Peace babycakes. I am all about love and understanding.
January 23, 200422 yr Ya know what.. if you're really this thin skinned.. this is not the place for you. I think you have a thing for me. Do you do a search for me and see what my last post was or what? I like reading your posts too but I don't feel the need to post a reply to every single one of them.

Yeah and basing my whole outlook on things on one opinion is a great way to formulate backrounds.
January 24, 200422 yr Yeah and basing my whole outlook on things on one opinion is a great way to formulate backrounds. Nah. I have seen other opinions of yours. They are basically the same. I don't see you post many things with positive outlooks.
January 24, 200422 yr Whatever floats your boat.. That is the closest thing I have seen to a no comment from you. I guess you can understand where I am coming from then. Then again you seem pretty stubborn and only seem to see your point of view so I have my doubts about that. Well sugar, as long as we have some sort of understanding it's all good. You have a great weekend. Your wonderful, really.
January 24, 200422 yr SSI, Your whole Sherman-Ditka argument is apples and oranges to Backman-Gardenhire. If I am thinking correctly, Sherman and Ditka are not good friends, like Backman and Gardenhire are. And Ditka is NOT the head coach of the Bears anymore, and I don't care what kinds of feelings you have for what he did with the Bears. Plain and simple, if say Terry Bevington congratulated the Twins on winning the division, would you give a s***? That's a fairer comparison, and me, no I would not. Or if you want it to be closer related to the Backman-Gardenhire situation, it would be like (hypothetically)Shoop and Sherman being friends and Shoop congratulating Sherman, saying he wants the job(and this is also assuming Shoop is a good O-coordinator, which everyone knows he is not)
January 24, 200422 yr Rex, Living in or near Birmingham, you've obviously spent your fair share of time at Barons games. Was Backman a "fiery guy" and a master motivator, or was he just a person who's a natural-born "prick"? In other words, is his surliness an act or his real personality? I'll take your opinion with a higher regard than I will the opinions of some of these media types in Chicago who wouldn't know who Wally Backman was if they shared a taxi with him.

I would not like that at all. I would hate to see a member from my team/coaching staff calling someone from my teams most hated rivals and congratulating them for beating my team to clinch the division championship and getting to the playoffs. It was not the right time to do it. If it is a month later. The season is over, then fine. Not during the season after they just beat us. I would have a big problem with that. Maybe it is just me, but I don't like it one bit. This point is moot anyway as Kenny hinted to it being a lot bigger than that.
January 24, 200422 yr Players, coaches, executives move from organization to organization all the time. They develop bonds with people they have "gone to battle" with. For a fan to get upset with someone for calling and ex-teammate and congratulating him on being successful is, in my opinion, ridiclous.
