February 4, 200422 yr New to this forum but figured I would post anyway. Does anyone else feeling a little upset that Opening Day is on a Tuesday afternoon this year? It has been a great thing that the last bunch have been on Friday. I still plan on attending but it still sucks.
February 4, 200422 yr I agree. I usually take that Friday off and have a party to kick off the season and then head out to the game. I will just take the Tuesday off of work and then have the party whenever the first weekend game is.
February 4, 200422 yr Welcome aboard Jordan and Doug!!! Last year, the home opener was on a school day, I remember. I ditched school that day to go.
February 4, 200422 yr Author I didnt imply I didnt have to take off work last year. Was just saying it was much better taking Friday off and having rest of weekend off.

We like to keep the party rolling right after the game...now we all have to work the next day! What gives?
February 4, 200422 yr The home opener is during my spring break, so I'm planning to go to every game of the opening series.
February 4, 200422 yr The home opener is during my spring break, so I'm planning to go to every game of the opening series. Man, I'm so jealous of that. I'm definitely going to be coming up this year for a weekend series though. I haven't been since '01.
February 5, 200422 yr The home series opener on a Friday the last few seasons has been great, because I have been able to fly in on Thursday night and catch at least two games of the opening series and then fly out that Sunday afternoon. A Tuesday home opener kills that for me, but what'ryagonnado? It gives me an excuse to bring the family up at the end of June for the Tribe and Cubs series.' As far as mlb doing the scheduling... I'm sure that's true, but the teams and owners have some input and I know JR has had some aspects of the schedule worked out the way he wants it -- opening away rather than at home for instance, and probably also the home opener series being on the weekend. It's good to be Buds with Bud.
February 5, 200422 yr I am quite depressed that I probably won't be able to go AGAIN. For the last few years I've asked to go but my dad won't take off work. Or it could be to cold, or we would "have" to sit in the upeer deck. Really the only times I get to go which is only a couple times a year (very disappointing), is on sunday afternoon or occasionally sat. night. Day baseball sucks IMO. If I have a damn kid who likes to go to games, then I'm gonna take him to some damn games.
February 5, 200422 yr It will be my first opening day this year, because my dad finally gave into letting me skip school.

I have friends I meet for opening day but there is still to me a place in my head that says baseball is not as important as school for kids I would never allow a descendant of mine to only go a couple of times a year and sitting in the Upper Deck is a blast glad I had no kid with me the last few years for opening dat though - 2001 was freezing and rain and 2003 - well no kid would wanted to stay through that nor would any responsible adult allow a kid to stay through that but high school age is not a kid in that sense so tell your father that you will never ever miss another day of school if he takes you that day and creates some life long memories so you will just have to replace him with someone who knows how to raise a child see if that works (PS your kids will love you)
February 5, 200422 yr hey cwsox..guess what....we only have 2 weekend series at home with the tiggers this year
