March 8, 200422 yr It was nice to see Danny W work his way out of a jam when he walked the first two in the second inning. Sounds like he did a pretty decent job this afternoon.
March 8, 200422 yr Cautiously optimistic here but Billy Chaos looking solid so far. I think that Rooney and Farmer said it right. I think Koch has gotten out of the mindset that he needs to blow the pitches by batters. He really just needs to focus on hitting his spots. I think Ozzie and Coop have also said this.
March 8, 200422 yr Author Bot 4th 4-1 Sox Mike Wood pitching Joe Crede (BB) - Homers to deep Left. Aaron Rowand (1-1, 1B RBI) - K's Swinging. Sandy Alomar - (1-1 1B) - Grounds out to second. Willie Harris (1-2 1B, RBI) - Grounds out to second. (Apparently a great play) End 4th 5-1 Sox
March 8, 200422 yr Farmer just said Politte's fastball was at 96 mph. Great news! : Anyone else think this will be our closer if Koch's elbow shuts him down? Or will the Sox turn to Damaso?
March 8, 200422 yr Author Top 5th 5-1 Sox Cliff Politte pitching Damien Miller - Grounds out to second. Bobby Crosby - K's Swinging. Adam Morrissey - Grounds out to short. Mid 5th 5-1 Sox
March 8, 200422 yr Anyone else think this will be our closer if Koch's elbow shuts him down? Or will the Sox turn to Damaso? What about Takatsu? Everybody gave up on him?
March 8, 200422 yr Just got home from school, and things are looking great. I just hope Willie gets going, or I will get an earful.
March 8, 200422 yr What about Takatsu? Everybody gave up on him? I see Takatsu as a set up man. Granted that is just by hearing what kind of stuff he features. Politte sounds like your protypical closer.
March 8, 200422 yr Author Wow at 96mph Politte basically replaces Flash except for that curveball. Well it sounds like he has a crisp slider according to Farmer. And if his slider is sharp in Arizona, imagine how sharp it could be in Chicago or other non high elevation places....
March 8, 200422 yr I see Takatsu as a set up man. Granted that is just by hearing what kind of stuff he features. Politte sounds like your protypical closer. We have four potential closer...if one of them would step it up, i dont wanna choose.
March 8, 200422 yr Yeah the only guy of the four that I don't want to see closing is Marte. I think he is FAR too valuable in the left-handed setup role and can also go 2-3 innings once in a while.
March 8, 200422 yr Yeah the only guy of the four that I don't want to see closing is Marte. I think he is FAR too valuable in the left-handed setup role and can also go 2-3 innings once in a while. Yeah, you are right. Other thhan him we have Wunsch and....nobody.
March 8, 200422 yr Just got home from school, and things are looking great. I just hope Willie gets going, or I will get an earful. Willie lined a single into center, and got robbed of another hit by a play by either the 2nd or 1st basemen.
March 8, 200422 yr Author Bot 5th 5-1 Sox Mike Wood picthing Jose Valentin (1-2, 3B) - Doubles to short left. Frank Thomas (0-1) - Flys out to left. Magglio Ordonez (1-2) - (Error on throw to second by Wood, Valentin to third) Singles to center, Valentin scores. (Pinch Runner for Magglio: Mario Valenzuela) Carlos Lee (1-2) - Grounds out to third, Valenzuela to second. Paul Konerko (0-2) - Grounds out to short. End 5th 6-1 Sox
March 8, 200422 yr Willie lined a single into center, and got robbed of another hit by a play by either the 2nd or 1st basemen. Alright thats good to hear. While I am typing, Byrnes smashes a double off of Takatsu. :fyou
March 8, 200422 yr Paul Konerko (0-2) - Grounds out to short. It looks like some things haven't changed much yet. Still holding out hope that he will improve as time goes by...
