March 15, 2004 - White Sox vs. Rockies

Gload homers!  He should have two, as he hit a bomb in his last at bat but was foul by a few feet.

This kid has really impressed me!  Keep it up Ross! :headbang

Trade PK for a bag of balls and put Gload on 1B!

Whats the score and inning????

4-1 I think, Top 5. Someone correct me if Im wrong.

Munoz is now in the game, Grilli is done. Uribe led off the game with a solo shot, Magglio hit a 2-Run Bomb, and Gload hit a homer in the bottom of the 4th. Helton hit a homer off of Grilli in the first.

Damn, Im so excited for Gload. We need a LH bat and he seems to be perfect for the job.

I wouldn't be against trading Kong and using Gload at first, if they could get some starting pitching for him.

I agree that Gload has been impressive. The homer makes his 2nd in 3 games. The guy is getting better as ST grinds on instead of what usually happens when the picthers get more settled in.

Some prospects and would open some space on the payroll to sign Urbina...

Hasn't Gload hit more than one homerun this spring?  Either Farmer or Rooney said that he had only hit one.

Now he has two. ;) But before today he did only have one. I remeber seeing it in during the game yesterday on the stat line.

You guys don't get to arried away there. Konerko is going to be just fine this year and we need that bat. He is a decent fielder also. Gload can help, but he is a utility man with no real major league history. I do think he will produce more than Daubach did in '03. Mostly because the role was something Brian was not used to.

What I like about Gload is that he's very versataille (sp?), meaning he can play OF and FirstBase, he's shown he can go the other way, plus a lefty bat that can hit is always a plus in the lineup.

I'd do Konerko for Ishii in a heartbeat. I also really want to see us sign Urbina; open up the wallet, I don't care. For a change, a player actually WANTS to be a White Sox player. Who knows, maybe we can bargain that asking price down. If we did get Urbina, we'd have a solid bullpen.

I think our pen would be more than solid with that addition. Probably one of the top 3 or 4, IMO.

4-3 Sox, Rockies score two more and have a man on second.

The Sox sure know how to squander a lead lately! Seems like they go up early then give up a bunch of runs at the end of the game... :huh

Yeah, but at least it's not the pitchers messing up. I think the Sox have 2 or 3 errors, and 2 of the runs might be unearned.

Olivo hits a single and steals second. Dransfeldt base hit RBI, making the score 5 - 3 White Sox.

Going into the Top of the 8th.

Pacheco gives up two runs and we have a tie game, 5 - 5, in the Top of the 8th. Darensburg comes in to relieve.

Pacheco and Majewski are two guys that have really struggled this spring.

im not too worried about this giving up leads late in the game thing... because right now these are all pitchers coming in to relieve that probably wont make the ML roster. As long as our offense and starting pitching is producing well thats what counts. (for the most part)

Holiday with a 2 RBI single in the 9th, 7-5 Rockies with runners at 2nd and 3rd.

Gload singles, tying run comes to the plate. 1 Out in the inning. Smith Walks. Runners at first and second, 1 out, 7-5 Rockies, Bottom Ninth, Dransdelt (sp?) to hit.

Rockies win 7-5.

Goat of the game: Pedro Lopez. :fyou

Game over:

Rockies win, 7-5. Grilli was impressive runs-wise, but gave up an awful lot of hits and walks.

You can't win them all.

Grili wasn't sharp today at all, But did show an ability to get out of jams. Gload has just been outstanding so far. I can't believe this guy hasn't found a major league team to stick with before now. I'm happy we've got him though..I'm also likin Uribe. It looks like he's really got legit power. Most people were sayin that his power came from hitting in hr friendly Coors Field. It looks like the guy's legit..

Konerko is a proven major league hitter and Gload is still a question mark. I don't think you can evaluate Gload based on an Arizona spring training. Having said that, I wouldn't mind trading Konerko and a pitching prospect for a starting pitcher and a LH hitting prospect. If Gload can handle the 1B duties, great. If not, we can move Carlos Lee to 1B, or put Frank in. We have enough good young outfielders that one of them can fill Lee's spot. But, if we do trade Konerko, don't be real surprised if he has a good year and Ross Gload just doesn't cut it.
