With all the talk about Ozzie's first game, lets' look at some of the greats in WS history. Whose the best?

Ozzie Guillen, 2004-____ 0-1 ;)

Clarence "Pants" Rowland :headbang

I knew you like Bevington :D

WHo the f*** voted for Terry Bevington? Is that damned Cub troll back?

Clarence "Pants" Rowland  :headbang

there is no other choice based on the names we have

you could have included Fielder Jones who did the one thing that most of our young Sox fans would give their left one to see...

but you had to include Bevington

sad to say i dont know half of those managers. :crying

The 2 managers that lead us to a world series

Fielder Jones

Clarence "Pants" Rowland

Fielder isnt a choice so i had to go with Pants

but who Fielder Jones beat in the World Series makes it unique :headbang

I had to go with El Senor'. Lopez consistently did more with less. I can't judge a manager that was around before my time.

I am truly sorry for that oversight. Gee no one voted for JM? How soon we forget our last Manager of the Year

Gene Lamont was a good manager as well. Who knows what would have happened if there was no strike during his tenure.

La Russa all the way. I wasn't born in the eras of the better managers.

I would say Jerry Manuel, due to him being the best manager of my day...

I'll go with, Lamont. A division title in 93. A possible world series apperance in 94. Or Larussa. All the other guys were WAY before my time...

I'm going with LaRussa. He was awesome during his time here and has been the last real manager this team has had.

Not a knock against Ozzie but the jury is still out on him.

couldnt vote not old enough to know anyone. i only remember jerry i dont remember who was before him

Where's Don Gutteridge? :huh

You're lucky to not know who Bevington was. Though he had a strange mastery of the bullpen, he just was not very good at...ummm...anything.

I'm only 34 (only...?) so I obviously have no real knowledge of Kid Gleason other than what I have read, and from how he was portrayed in Eight Men Out, but my liking of him comes from that stuff. He seemed like such a pure Baseball guy, who really had a strong desire to win, but was dealt a lousy blow. There were a couple of old time managers that I have read about, that I would easily place high on my list. Just because you have never seen them, doesn't mean you can't love them. Heck, there are still people who consider their favorite players to have been people like Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, etc.

I think the choice is obvious.

You're for Bevinton also, eh?
