My own Jesus debate thread

gotta love the hokiness of it.

anyway, my thoughts are on the whole "jesus is my homeboy" clothing line or Jesus action figures. I'm just not quite sure if you're a believer you should be to into these products. any time anyone says "Jesus would be totally into this" I get a little skeptical....call me conservative or whatever

thoughts?

Odds are, if it exploits anyone or thing, in anyway... It would be out of line.

I agree completely in that openly anyone attacking abortion or gay marriage and saying "Jesus would be totally into this" is misrepresenting that they know the will of Jesus.

I kind of think he'd like an action figure though. Or a line of fine 'miracle wines'... there's an unexplored marketing goldmine...

Here's a clothing line I'm offended by....http://www.tokenclothing.com/... I'll have you know, I have a 13" vertical..

{threadjack.continued} LMAO

I happen to have a $50 jump. Man you can slide a $50 under me when I sky.

I need that for my classes at UTPA.

You can always count on T-Shirt Hell to give you a healthy alternative:

Why is Jesus White?

Now I am being deadly serious:

I have actually seen kids at my school wearing these shirts and trucker hats. The first time I was like, what the holy goodness is this? But then I realized what it was. I have no clue, one boy is fairly religious, the rest, well I didn't even want to ask. Why would you wear this? I just don't know. Ack.

my thoughts:

That whole death on a cross thing might be worth a little more than being called a "home boy".

I just don't want to get to heaven one day and Jesus is like...so...homeboy, huh...that's all I was to you?

That whole death on a cross thing might be worth a little more than being called a "home boy".

Many, many people died on the cross, impaled on spikes, quartered, cooked in oil for days or else just rotted in prison over the millenii. Quite a few did so for a worthy cause or two......Jesus being Jesus, symbolizing the very best qualities a human can have, however, does warrant some additional respect, I do agree

The problem is, many people don't believe in him or/and don't give a s*** about a number of "worthy" things, Jesus included. So they might as well call him/wear whatever they want in a pathetic attempt to be Cool and Relevant.

f*** em. They fear indifference as vampires fear garlic, mirrors and those with AIDS.

That whole death on a cross thing might be worth a little more than being called a "home boy".

I agree with your statement, but I also agree with Brando...

The main problem I had with the Passion (and yes, I realize it was a film about, The Passion) was that it divorced the overarching message of love, inclusion and radical challenging of authority that defined the ministry of Jesus. I think that it is those reasons that Jesus should have respect--like Brando said, thousands of Jews and others (I think others, but mostly Jews) were crucified--heck, Pilate himself crucified thousands. After one insurrection they crucified 2,000. The crucifixion itself does not set Jesus apart, but the reasons why he was crucified: mainly that he challenged the oppressive nature of society, fought for inclusion of all (enemies, sinners, the ritually unclean) and he preached love in a time of hateful occupation of the Holy Land.

Um, that's all.
