Pro teams and cities...

Featured Replies

Do you think sports teams legitimize cities? In other words, do you think of cities with professional sports teams as the “major” cities of this country, while those without teams as something less?

My beautiful home has the Lansing Lugnuts!

That's a Cubs affiliate so it's not really considered professional...

That is what I heard...what level are they and do they play any of the Sox teams?

All you need for a "major" city is a balanced Commercial, industrial, and residential zones....

I want to get that game...better than going to class.

not really...LA doesn't have a football team...there's no way i would consider tampa bay or indianapolis 'major'...it's just that most big cities have sports teams

Indianapolis has a million people in it. I'd have to call that "major".

You don't have to be in a major market in the NFL. With all the shared revenue, you'll never lose money in a season. It's only one day a week, so it you don't need 60,000 a day.

I think so...

Lansing= Low A Midwest league

No sox affiliates in the league... It's the same league that the Kane County cougars are in.

Yeah football is different. Plus, it is such big time, they are the real American pastime now.

Damn...only way I planned to go to a game was if its versus us...I will prob still go sometime though.

Uhh....

Las Vegas anyone? They have no major sports team(Las Vegas 51's, the Dodgers AAA team, but I think that's it...maybe AFL or an XFL team when that was in for the one year), and that is the city that never sleeps.

I assume they have no sports team due to the fact that there would be some major betting action afterward.

My city has a team called the White Sox. And the Bears. And the Bulls. And the BlackHawks. and the Scrubs. and.......

The Fire! :headbang They are actually the best record wise team from Chicago, but nobody cares about soccer.

Beasley on the Fire is from Ft. Wayne; he went to my HS and middle school....

Demarcus Beasley

Unless you count the Wolves...

I would bet the Fire beat the Wolves there. The Fire are always good. I cannot imagine the Wolves having better records year in and year out.

They have won two Turner Cups and year in and year out are at the top of their league.

I went to the same junior high as Lindsey Durlocher...he is ranked second for Americans at 55 kilos in Greco...has a shot at the Olympics.

I went to the same high school as Rob Either...he was an Olympian at the 1996 Olympics.

Wrestling rocks!

Other notable high schoolers...Ted Nuggent, Jarret Payton, Bret Basenez (NWestern QB), Jonaton Spector (Manchester United), and this awesome kid who wrestles at Michigan State ( :P ). :D

The Fire are always good and have won at least one MLS Cup and I know they were in the championship game last year. I don't follow soccer though. I forgot about the Wolves, the real hockey team in town.
