April 26, 200421 yr Maybe I'm mistaken here, but don't you need a little momentum/speed to go spikes first? I don't think Lee would have been able to do that..I think he did what he could, and he should have been given the base..Oz should have been on the field arguing with the ump instead of chasing after Carlos.
April 26, 200421 yr On the way home from the game I heard ozzies comments -- I don't remember his exact quote, but it was something like "getting picked off like that is dumb, just dumb, a dumb play" -- I remember him saying dumb 3 times very distinctly. Well that was awfully nice of him to say...
April 26, 200421 yr Well that was awfully nice of him to say... Just to note... I'm not as sure who he was refering to when he kept calling them dumb -- My brother says it was about willie's but attempt in the ninth -- I just remember him repeating "dumb" a few times.
April 26, 200421 yr I'm still pissed at Lee for swinging at the 1st pitch with the bases loaded the day before and popping up to 2nd.
April 26, 200421 yr Maybe I'm mistaken here, but don't you need a little momentum/speed to go spikes first? Not if you don't care what happens to your knee/ankle.
April 26, 200421 yr carlos figures to pick it up soon. he played well last year. He'll be fine. If he's not, Mr. reed can be summoned from Charlotte
April 27, 200421 yr and he should have been traded in the offseason. everyone should remember my feelings on him Yes, but I've always considered the source.
April 27, 200421 yr I'm sure Ozzie gave Lee a positive pep talk. Probably told him, "Look, you made a mental mistake, but this team still needs you. We all make mistakes. Nobody's perfect. Get your head outta your ass and deal with it." That is the essence of leadership. Chew him out for the mistake and then build him up again. He learns to play better heads up baseball. I think it will put a charge in him and that's why he is my PTC for Tuesday vrs the Tribe.
June 13, 200421 yr Go easy on Carlos. He obviously plays his ass off. He doesn't have a lackadaisical approach out there. He had a brain cramp today. Nobody's perfect. He hit .290 with 31 HR, 113 RBI, 100 R, and 18 SB last year. Remember? See, old threads are good. You have to love them.
