Left-hander Kelly Wunsch, serving a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte, appears to be the odd man out of the Sox bullpen for now.

 

"He's going to be eligible to come back pretty quick," Williams said. "But since he just got back on the mound, he is probably going to have to spend the whole 30 days down there. After that, we will have to see where we are. The bullpen is really shaping up to where we think it is really going to be a plus on this club.

 

"If we can get Billy [Koch] back to being the old Billy, or even close to being the old Billy, we will be even that much better. Right now there isn't a spot for [Wunsch]. That's the way it goes sometimes." …

And I totally agree with him. Who should he replace? To a man, every guy in that pen has been doing his job. Even Koch has only had one bad game, just like Marte and Takatsu.

He's only made 3 appearances with Charlotte as well, definitely needs more time down there.

I think it's more related to the fact that KW is trying to get rid of him. He dodged a trade earlier this season and I assume KW is pissed about it.

I agree, every single guy out there in our bullpen has done his job, well.......even koch lately.

You, know, there is no law against keeping Kelly at Charlotte all season.

I believe Wunsch said or did something in spring training that pissed Kenny Williams off. I am thinking that Kelly was the player that Williams was referring to when it was said that someone who thinks they are on the team better pick it up or they may be surprised. I don't remember the exact quote, but it was along those lines.
