WHITE SOX NAME BROOKS BOYER VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING;

PROMOTE THREE OTHERS IN RESTRUCTURING

CHICAGO – Brooks Boyer has been named the new vice president of marketing for the Chicago White Sox, while Tim Buzard and Terry Savarise have been promoted to senior vice presidents, and Scott Reifert has been promoted to vice president of communications.

Boyer, who worked for the Chicago Bulls for 10 seasons, the last six as senior director of corporate partnerships, will be responsible for the team’s marketing, promotions and broadcasting efforts, as well as overseeing ticket, sponsorship and suite sales.

“We are excited by the energy and enthusiasm Brooks brings to the White Sox after his 10 seasons with the Bulls,” said Jerry Reinsdorf, chairman of the White Sox. “His experience in building business relationships, in sales, and in generating an entertaining atmosphere will have a major impact on the

U.S. Cellular Field experience for all White Sox fans.

“Tim and Terry have been invaluable employees for the White Sox for a very long time,” Reinsdorf said. “They are incredible assets to this organization. Scott’s role with the Sox has continued to grow during his 14 years with the club, and it is his responsibility to communicate with and understand our fans. One of our key objectives as an organization is to have White Sox fans connect with our team and our players, while providing a fan-focused entertainment experience that is unmatched.”

A 1994 graduate of Notre Dame where he was a member of the basketball team (1990-94) and a two-time captain, Boyer also is a graduate of the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at De Paul University. He and his wife, Julie, reside in Westmont with their three children.

Boyer will begin his role with the White Sox after a brief transition from the Bulls.

Buzard, who has been with the White Sox since 1981, was promoted to senior vice president of administration. He is directly responsible for the club’s accounting, ticket office, human resources, data processing and communications departments, as well as overseeing operations of the Chicago Bulls/Chicago White Sox Training Academy in Lisle, Ill.

Savarise, who was promoted to senior vice president of stadium operations, is responsible for all aspects of U.S. Cellular Field operations, including the over 2,000 employees who staff the ballpark on game days. In addition to overseeing the popular renovations to U.S. Cellular Field for the White Sox, Savarise also serves as the senior vice president of operations for the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks.

Reifert joined the White Sox in 1991 as assistant director of public relations before being promoted to director of public relations in 1997. He will oversee strategic communications, media relations, corporate communications, community relations, publications and the club’s website, www.whitesox.com.

Is this going to be a "be careful what you wish for" kind of thing?

The Bulls market the hell out of themselves, but I swear to God, if I see a bunch of fat guys dancing on the field.....................

What, they couldn't share the JM fella with the Cubs?

Cheap bastards.

Well, hasn't this guy done a pretty good job with the Bulls? I mean, they've sucked since their last championship in (I've forgotten, 95, 96, 97???), yet IIRC they've maintained one of the highest attendences in the NBA.

Hopefully we can expect at least an attendence increase, as well as maybe some more half-price or lower food-price nights, I think Dollar Hot-Dog Thursdays has now become a very nice fan appeal.

we did that already with Gallas,

that obese dj who used to stand on the dugout roof and dance to YMCA or whatever it was

watching that was when years of being a Sox fan allowed one's self not to feel totally disgusted because you know is the not dumbest thing we ever did and this too will pass

From the media and marketing columnist of the Tribune on Tuesday morning:

Boyer said:

"The marketing challenge is similar in every sport:your fans have to come first. This is a pretty good baseball team, and we're anxious to get people out here."

He's aware of the perception that the organization is anything but fan friendly. "It's one of the things we're going to try and work on immediateley. You'll see, not tomorrow, but over the next few months added entertainment value into the games."

Not sure what that means. Luvasoxettes? People spinning around baseball bats and falling over?

Hell, I'd settle for Rob Gallas in a dunk tank, and I bet he has the free time for it.

If the guy is coming from the Bulls, I gotta at least give him a chance. The Bulls have had a s***ty product out on the court for years, and have led the NBA in attendance for years. I think they ended up 3rd in attendance this year with the 2nd worst record in the NBA. Hopefully this guy can work some magic here.

One thing the Bulls did for season ticket holders was give them ALL the giveaway's upfront. Nothing worse than getting to the park late and not getting a bobblehead you want. Several friend of ours are Bulls ST holders just because of that perk.

And that is so simple, I can't believe no one has really thought of that before. :bang

If you haven't run across it, check out my latest article at White Sox Central to see what Mr. Boyer is up against.

Be forewarned, some you you JR fans will not like it.

So they did not hire me, dammit.

Seeing it once was enough

more than enough

I thought he was around like for a season or two in the 90s and maybe not at every game but at enough (once was too many).

Maybe he wasn't at every game. I remember seeing him at OPening day. Lucky me, I had two rows behind the dugout that day :puke . And then I went to a game about three weeks later and he wasn't there. My buddies and I drank a beer in his memory!

see why I sit in the upper deck? None of that visual trash comes close to me!

Since I am right behind home we can call the balls and strikes just fine and seevery play in the park but on really fat guy on dug out night, furry mascots on dugout nights, and Caribbean night (jive dancing furry mascots on dug outs) all of that stuff is far enough way it can't touch me!

That's why I usually sit up there too, but I was given those tickets to Opening day and I couldn't pass them up.

Whereever I can get. I like 533 or 534 within the first 15 rows. My wife prefers those seats as well.
