April 28, 200421 yr ahhhhhemmmm " doh... did frank even have a good at bat? how deep was the fly?" anyone? 2 pitches. 2 balls. Swung at the 2nd. Lame at bat, not classic Frank. He got too anxious.
April 28, 200421 yr ahhhhhemmmm " doh... did frank even have a good at bat? how deep was the fly?" anyone? Shattered bat -- only Glen Allen Hill hits the ball with autority while breaking a bat like that.
April 28, 200421 yr Riske always seems to do well against Frank. At least in the past two or three years, anyway. He makes him look ordinary.
April 28, 200421 yr I just got back. I seem to remember Judy Garland showing up for a game last year in April against Cleveland. Good to see he showed up again today.
April 28, 200421 yr Some notes and opinions from this game... Koch>Adkins Sure it is easy to have a zero era when you pitch in nonpressure situations. Adkins gets his first taste of pressure and chokes on it. Frank+Carlos= 8HRs = 9RBI from those HRs. Give me Joe Crede and his .200 average in the clutch so far this year. Garland 5th & 6th = 12 pitches total. I like Guillen sticking with this kid. JM would have hooked him bigger than life. Hopefully this starts to payoff in big games later on. Politte & Damaso= Inherited runners wet dream. Why is it that if these guys start an inning they look great, but if they come in with anyone on base, they seem to automatically score? Omar Vizquel = Soxkilla. Damn I hate this guy. 37 years old and has been kicking our collective asses for how long now? Victor Martinez= Miguel Olivo - the plus throwing arm. This kid is going to be good. Solid hitter, good eye, not afraid to make the big hit. Aaron Rowand = Charlotte. His swing is off. He has a funky angle in it right now, that he needs to work out. Figure out a way to send him down for a month and get it fixed. Sox OF= SLOW. How many balls dropped in that the TB OF would have had EASY. Granted they are the best in baseball, but still, one or two of those balls get caught and we never have to go to extra innings.
April 28, 200421 yr Here's my notes: I'm wavering between being concerned that this is the second of the lower-tier AL teams that the Sox have not looked good against, or laughing off the bad luck the Sox have had over the last few couple losses. I like Billy Koch, but I don't want him to pitch anymore until he can control that breaking ball of his. Can't they just keep him on the team in a support role, like Jerome Benton of The Time, or that guy from the Might Mighty Bosstones who just dances around? How many straight-as-an-arrow, right-down-the-f***ing-middle fastballs did Rafael Betancourt throw in a row? And why did every Sox hitter miss every one of them? Can Aaron Rowand please learn how to take an inside pitch? Who was that moron who thought Uribe wouldn't be able to deal with breaking balls? He looked like he knew what to do with them just fine. Garland is becoming a VERY good pitcher. He got the shaft yesterday with all those Texsox Leaguers, but he looks exponentially better than he did last year.
