Baseball Sells Out

Featured Replies

They got ripped and backed out, not surprising to me at all...

I just don't understand the point of those ads.  The only ones that will clearly see them are the players and the umps.  Fans at home might if a camera closes up on one of them, but other than that, how effective will it be at that time?  Obviously it's getting a lot of press now, but what about then?

I was talking with my dad earlier and I thought the EXACT same thing. If youa re going to advertise on the field, paint it in center or something

POsted this thougth in the other thread, but some don't go over there...

Spiderman no doubt signed a contract with baseball. They could hold baseball to the contract if they felt like it. But since all publicity is good publicity, the beating that MLB was taking in the media, which mentioned Spiderman 2 everytime, was well worth the money that exchanged hands. Therefore Spiderman had already got what it wanted, hell MLB got what it wanted. Everyone goes home happy. No need to continue taking a beating in the press, and with fans, as there comes a point where publicity can really be BAD, and they make an anouncement that there will be NO anvertising. I'm just surprised it came so quickly. I would have wiated til monday. We would have forgotten about it by then.

From what I understand, the on deck circles are still going to be used for the ads. Oh well, at least it's not between the white lines.

That's what I read. They are just not having the web on the bases.

Fan, I think the publicity of it is worth waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than the actual advertising benefits.  The controversy has everyone talking, and indirectly about the movie.

Yeah, I didn't even know there was a Spiderman sequel. Now that I do and see them putting ads on bases, I'll be sure not to see it. Didn't like the first one much anyhow.
