May 7, 200421 yr JOSE Is Valentin going to start soon? I really like what Uribe brings to the table. Uribe has hit meaningful HR's and hits during his starting stint. Harris needs to hit better and steal more bases the way Brian Roberts is doing for the Orioles. I am all for giving Harris and Uribe all the chance to succeed.
May 7, 200421 yr I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Harris is starting in cf today. I hope that happens soon, but I doubt that happens tonight will Lilly on the mound.
May 7, 200421 yr I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Harris is starting in cf today. I would like that. I know it's not the most popular of choices, but I feel we would be most successful keeping both Willie and Uribe in the lineup. I also want to see Jose in there.
May 7, 200421 yr In my judgement, Valentin's days as a White Sox are over. Heres how I see it: The Mariners, who are in last place in the AL West, need some more hitting. They are stocked with pitching. Yes, they do have a SS already, but Jose could always DH or come off the bench as a utility batsman specialist.
May 7, 200421 yr but Jose could always DH or come off the bench as a utility batsman specialist. for 5 million? I think not.
May 7, 200421 yr Give Jose a day to get acclimated. Start the line up that has been doing the job. We can always use Jose to PH for Willie later in the game if we need to.
May 7, 200421 yr but Jose could always DH or come off the bench as a utility batsman specialist. Over Edgar Martinez?
May 7, 200421 yr I am amazed that folks are wanting to tear apart the team chemistry with the same old trade speculation, not to mention significantly weaken the offense. Jose will and should stay in Chicago and play regular at SS. Uribe is the super role player just as he was envisioned to be when he was acquired and also during ST. Harris and Uribe are the ones who will fight over the 2B job. 2B is Uribe's natural position. You trade Jose and who do you have as the super sub, a role played last year by Graffy, or the left handed bat we need? Please quit with the specualtion.
May 7, 200421 yr yeah b4 we talk about any trade speculation les see how the guys we have now in the minors do.... if none of them can seem to get the job done then talk about trading rowand or valenten or lee.... but until then lets see what the guys in our system can do
May 7, 200421 yr He'd better not be playing tonight, we are facing a lefty... I don't know if you noticed it or not, but in Spring Training and so far this season, Jose has been hitting lefties better than Willie is hitting RIGHTIES.......There is a reason why Sox almost never bat Willie against LHP: 300 OPS

We need LH power in the lineup. Other then Jose, who hits for any power from the LH side of the plate? The answer is obviously no one and I have made my point. Jose brings much more to the table then what he puts up statistically. This is one of the examples where stats only give you half the story. The ONLY way I give up Jose is if I get a stud, and I mean absolute stud(Delgado/Helton/Thome-esque, not Everett/Burnitz-esque) in some other deal.
May 7, 200421 yr Doesn't he start? Wilson - C Olerud - 1B Boone - 2B Spiezio - 3B Aurlia - SS Ibanez - LF Winn - CF Ichiro - RF Edgar - DH Where in the hell are you going to put Jose?

Throw your stats in the garbage and if you want to talk stats, look at your boy's average at Charlotte...
May 7, 200421 yr The ONLY way I give up Jose is if I get a stud I'd do Val-for-Garcia straight up. Too bad the M's won't. Nor will the Angels do Washburn for Val. Nor will the Cubs do Beltran/Guzman for Val. Valentin has very little value to other teams. He is batting .050 in AAA. /End of story.
May 7, 200421 yr The ONLY way I give up Jose is if I get a stud, and I mean absolute stud(Delgado/Helton/Thome-esque, not Everett/Burnitz-esque) in some other deal. Or maybe for free? There's a thought...
May 7, 200421 yr Wilson - C Olerud - 1B Boone - 2B Spiezio - 3B Aurlia - SS Ibanez - LF Winn - CF Ichiro - RF Edgar - DH Where in the hell are you going to put Jose? As a backup, sir.
May 7, 200421 yr As a backup, sir. Beastly, a 5 million backup for a team that is in last place isn't going to happen. Quit being delusional.
May 7, 200421 yr Throw your stats in the garbage and if you want to talk stats, look at your boy's average at Charlotte... I think I'll take 110 atbats of March-April over 25 ab of rehab.... If Valentin is sitting (which he should be), it SHOULDN'T be because of LHP thing -- as I pointed out Willie Harris is BEYOND brutal against them. Valentin should sit against ALL pitchers because his timing is clearly out of whack.
