Barry Bonds at it again

Featured Replies

From Peter King in CNNSI:

"I ain't white. What world are you living in? I live in reality. They'd never let a black man get away with that.''

--Barry Bonds, asked last week about Roger Clemens' travel arrangement with the Astros. Clemens does not travel to Houston road games when he is not slated to pitch.

Editorial aside to Bonds (though I doubt Barry reads MMQB): This is a great example of why so many people dislike you. There's a bit of fundamental difference here, Barry. As an outfielder you're supposed to play most, if not, every day. Clemens is supposed to pitch every fourth or fifth day. If you were in his shoes, teams would line up to make you that offer. What an idiotic, racially divisive statement to make.

I also took issue with Bonds' sentiment, expressed last week, that many of his aches are due to all the intentional walks and regular walks he receives. "You're on your feet all day,'' he was quoted as saying in the New York Times. "I don't ever sit down. That's hard. It's a hard job.''

Stop it, Barry. I'm running out of Kleenex.

Well put.

I'm sure the guy working for 8 bucks an hour at the factory feels sorry for Barry, having to be on his feet all day. What a hard job.

Why the hell do people always throw race into it? It really pisses me off because more often than not, race is NOT a factor at all in whatever the situation is. It's so annoying

Barry Barry Barry :headshake Go read about Jackie's travel arrangements, or Larry's and tell me we haven't come a long way.

Clemens is a f***ing pitcher. If you asked his Astros teammates what concessions they would make to have him come pitch, do you think they would have agreed ti let him stay home if he isn't scheduled to pitch? Dah.

Hell, I'd let him sit in the stands and eat hotdogs if that's what he wanted to do between starts.

added to the list of the many reasons i hate barry... <_>

Couldn't have said it better myself. Bonds makes me sick. :puke

you guys are all racists

if roger clemmens were black, his name would be Slavey Slaverton, he would make the league minimum, and the astros could trade him in the town square

It is sad for baseball that their greatest marketing tool is really a tool

As I recall, Michael Jordan did not travel with the Bulls, did he? It seems to me I

remember reading that he had separate travel arrangements.

different situation but good point. didn't he also have his own locker room?

This is such a shocker! Bonds clearly stated that he wanted to top Ruth's home run totals because Ruth was lefthanded, not because he was white. To find out Bonds has some racially movitated thoughts is just so disheartnening.

What a scumbag.
