I got my good laugh for the day.

I thought this thread was about potential roster moves.....

1) I don't understand what Mike Jackson is doing taking up space on the roster. Granted, his first few appearances were OK, but he is a bunch of line drives waiting to happen, esp if we put him in with the game on the line, which we won't. I would rather see him released now, not later, and someone with some kind of future with the team getting his handful of innings, or else pitch Cotts more. I could see cutting Jackson and bringing up Reed.

2) If Rowand doesn't step it up soon, he could use a wake up call in Charlotte.

lol, Jackson has been our best righty (IMO) out of the pen this year, and you want to send him down? He gets out lefties, he gets out righties with his mean sinker. No, Jackson can't go down. I think that the person who's been of least use, if that makes any sense, should go down, and IMO, that guy has been Rowand.

It's your opinion and all this, but really, Shingo has been our best righty out of the pen by far. Since his welcoming to America in his first game against the Yankees(when he gave up that 2-run homer to Bubba Crosby), he has allowed exactly 1 ER. He's been sick and is damn near unhittable when he's right.

I should point out that Sox were losing that Yankee game anyway, so it's not as if he pulled a Marte. It wasn't a blow out either, but I give Shingo benefit of the doubt.

Back to Jackson. As I said, he started out with 3-4 scoreless outings, but his last few have resulted in runs. I don't have the stats to back me up, just the impression I have. Seldom does he appear in crunch time. If he did, I would expect to see a flurry of hits. I don't think there is any way he will be here next year, so why bother. I could name several guys at Charlotte/Birmingham that I would rather have in our pen. And I really wouldn't mind replacing him with Reed. Do we need this many pitchers? It's not as if our bullpen is overworked like the Rockies' pen.

His numbers look acceptable to me. His last time out he pitched 1.2 scoreless in the 6-5 win we had over Baltimore. 1.2 scoreless in a one run game sounds like cruch time to me.
