Screw the Rain and ESPN

Featured Replies

I am so sick and freakin tired of the damn rain following the sox wherever they go. It's getting so annoying now. They must lead the league in rain delays. Last night because of the weather, ESPN decided to pull the plug on the game and not broadcast it. They went to the TWINS vs. BLUE JAYS! Do you think those idiots in Bristol are going to show a different White Sox game soon. Not a chance in hell. So I went the night without seeing the white sox like I had planned.

Consider yourself lucky, the game was crap.

But I only see like 10 games a year!

yea, you definitely didnt miss much last night

On the bright side you didn't miss a good game, but it does suck that you couldn't see it because of ESPN. And it sucks even more that the Sox got bumped for the Twinkies :P But maybe ESPN will decide to play a Sox game sometime soon and it'll be a really good game so it'll make up for missing last night's. ;)

I think it had more to do with the hockey game afterward, which started at 10. The Sox game was never gonna finish in time.

I do get to see more than 10 since we get ESPN/ESPN2, WGN and the Fox Sports NW, which allows me to see Mariners/Sox games. But, I agree with you that when you think you have a chance to see the game and the rain comes, and of course ESPN won't go back to the game when it commences, it sucks. How the game turned out is of little comfort because I wanted to see the team play and get a chance to see Diaz pitch.

POPPY, you are worthless to this message board

And the sad thing is, every series the Sox have had that's not in a dome, whether it be home or away, has had rain in the forecast. I have never seen anything like it. Unreal.

Funny. On yesterdays radio broadcast of the game, Farmer said today's forecast gave no indication of rain. But, of course, gametime arrives and its pouring out. :bang

Not sure how warm it is out in Cleveland, but the weather here in Chicago isn't much better. The Cubs are going to have fun tonight with low 50's and high probability of rain throughout the evening.

With the way the Sox have been playing the last 10 games, a rainout wouldn't be the worst thing to happen to them!

Yeah, but a double header wouldn't sound too inviting immediately before the four game set in Minnesota.

Be thankful that didn't happen. With Cotts starting Saturday, our bullpen is already going to be stressed.

but kelly will be back up here so we will have the same amount of people in the pen

Cotts will only go 3 or 4 innings so the bullpen will have to take up that slack. As I said, our bullpen is going to be stressed.

Umm, adkins use to be a starter there is no reason why he could not pitch another two or three innings.

Look at it this way. Our bullpen will be responsible for those 9 innings in Saturday's game, as opposed to counting on 6 or 7 from a normal starter. Consider Cotts as part of the bullpen. Wunsch will only be able to give you about 1 inning. Cotts and Adkins will not be available for very much, if any, of the other 3 games in the series. That means if one of our other starters falters or gets hurt, we will not have any long relievers available. Shingo, Politte, Marte and Koch are 2 innings max pitchers at best. Also, what if we have a 15 inning marathon? There are so many things that can happen to turn this into a disaster. Again I state, our bullpen will already be stressed. And that is a best case scenario.

Wunsch has pitched well against LH/RH, but his role in the past has been more of a left handed specialist. Not to say he'll have problems going beyond one inning, but keep in mind the bullpen must be kept fresh for the three games preceeding Cotts' start.

Hopefully Ozzie won't leave any starters out longer then necessary in order to save the bullpen (in the event Neal doesn't fare well in Game 4). Though I fear he will anyways.

Then again, unless our starters are planning on eating up innings the Minnesota series will probably become a heftly load for the bullpen.

Why must this problem exist?
