Montreal, among the lowest-drawing clubs for more than a decade, was bought by the other 29 teams before the 2002 season. The Expos also are being sought by Las Vegas; Monterrey, Mexico; Norfolk, Va.; Portland, Ore.; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Asked whether the team would have a new permanent home by next year, Selig responded: "I do feel comfortable. ... absolutely."

I think it'd be nice to see the nation's capital have a team again; it could end up being a good rivalry team for Baltimore. It could be close to a cross-town type interleague series (ie. Sox-Cubs; Yanks-Mets) with the closeness of Baltimore and D.C.

I would love to see Mexico. Monterrey is only about 2 hours from the border, a very nice city and the fans base would be huge.

I didn't vote for it, but I think it would be hilarious if it was in Vegas, Called the High Rollers and Pete Rose managed them.

Las Vegas already has a minor league team called the "51's"

I think the Expos would be best suited for Portland. They have a huge fan base when it comes to basketball, they have an already built stadium that could hold 25-30 thousand for the next few years while there true home is being built, and they also have the room for a stadium inside the city of Portland.

My vote goes to Portland!

I think DC would be the best choice out of those. It would be interesting to see how Steinbrenner will react to it. He was already complaining about how it would be too much competition due to the Yanks, Mets, Orioles and then DC.

They will have red or black uniforms, drinks are always free, there will be more dealers in attendance that at a meeting of Sosa and Bonds

Vegas baby :headbang

They will also have mini slot machines built into the back of every seat.

My vote went to Portland. Move them into the AL West and shift Pittsburgh into the NL East and then all divisions are at 5 teams apiece.

Vegas would be sweet....I doubt the Expos will play there though

:headbang this was what i was thinking the entire time.

my cousin went to one of thier games last year and he said Ed Farmers son started and pitched pretty well in that game, and in case you were wondering they are the Dodgers AAA team

I think San Juan would be very popular, but they would need a stadium.

I voted Portland, long term I think they'll stick around there. U could move the Expos into the AL West, and the Pirates into the NL East, and u would hav 5 teams for each division. Portland and Seattle could start up a nice lil rivalry. :)

Also, wtf is Norfolk, Virginia doing on the list?

I voted D.C.

The problem with moving the Expos to the AL West and moving Pitt to the NL East would be having an odd number of teams in each league. Baseball needs an even number of teams in each league to keep the schedule possible.

You can't have an odd number of teams in each league. The schedule would be unworkable.

EDIT: I should have read the entire thread.

I wish they would move them and at least one more team to NYC to dilude the Yankees market. it is the only way to bring their spending back to earth is to reduce their share of the market. Right now the Mets and Yankees spilt a market of about 20 million people. For perspective sake KC has a market of less than 2 million people.
