Kenny, Don't Trade Jon Rauch

Featured Replies

How about we don't trade Jon Rausch? Let's step back a minute and I would ask that KW do the same thing. He does in fact seem to have calmed down and is saying something a bit different now. Jon Rausch made a stupid immature move, but he has talent and I think now understands what he did was wrong. But, it's not the end of the world. I think motivation is now the answer. Jon Rausch must be motivated to show the team he made a mistake and has learned from it. He must also want to produce and show that he can be a winner at the ML level. KW is right to say that Jon needs to talk with the other teammates and ask for their blessing for him to continue. I would think they will give it to him and then Jon takes the hill with a fire to show he deserves that chance. Folks it is all about motivation and leadership and don't mistake the importance of character building in developing a winning mindset in a team. I think the cohesiveness of this team will be the thing that gets them to the top after 162 games are played. The demand to trade Jon Rausch is somewhat understandable, but retribution is not the answer. Jon Rausch deserves a spanking and he is getting it, but you don't shoot yourself in the foot after you stick it in your mouth or up your rear. Use this situation for the teams and the organizations advantage to send a message, but also show the willingness to forgive, that's family too. KW can make an important move here and I hope the rush to trade is not it.

spell his name right... RAUCH

After seeing the repeated spellings of Valentine, why freak out about Rausch? Geesh people relax. :headshake

Back to Soxtalk...Pat Strange would be the guy I would want...again, the change of scenery would help best

I don't know much about Strange at all Beastly. What are his upsides?

Lets face it, the guy just isn't that good.

He had his moment, but he just hasn't panned out like we all hoped. He doesn't have a place here, we might as well send him somewhere. Maybe we can get decent low level relief pitcher or infielder for him.

a very very hard fastball

I don't know beastly, the Mets seem to think Strange will come around when they complete his transition to the bullpen.

Agreed. You point out someones spelling errors in English class. Hows bout we stick to the substance of the post. ;)

yeah, but I'd risk trading borchard...after all, we do have reed and a longshot but valenzuela to back him up

If we gave up borchard and Rauch the Mets would have to fork over more than Strange.

The 2 sides of Pat Strange:

2004 (triple-A): 3-3; 1 sv; 5.58 ERA; 40.1 IP; 18 BB; 24 K;10 HR....ouch

2002 (triple-A): 10-10; 3.82 ERA; 165 IP; 59 BB; 109 K...respectable

The Mets seem to think that his fastball will translate better as a reliever so they are in the process of moving him to the pen. His strikeout numbers are evidence that he doesn't have anything to keep hitters off balance, so that fastball gets over exposed.

I also think I heard he lost some velocity.

Buy High, Sell Low

That's the reality we face. Everyone in baseball knows we need a 5th starter. Evryone in baseball knows Jon's situation. If we tried to solve both of these issues we would be selling Jon at his lowest and paying top dollar for a decent guy who could get us 7 or 8 wins.

Keep Jon, try to find him spots to build some stats, and during next off season make a decision, unless someone calls with a deal.

How fast did Strange throw?

How fast did Strange throw?

I think it is mid 90's now, but he used to be high 90's, even as high as 98.

Its amazing a guy could throw so hard, and strike out so few.

Damn.. thanx 1549.

If anyone has any Mets questions just ask me. A lot of my friends are Mets fans, so I have to listen to all of their s***.
