That responsibility changes based on your position in the community. Bonds needs to weigh his comments based on the stage they are broadcast from.

And he wonders why most people can't stand him. Now, that doesn't mean people don't respect his ball-playing abilities, but as a person and a teammate, I've heard very few good things about him.

But to burn him at the stake - again..? Had someone endearing said this there would be no issue. And I don't think he cares what most "fans" think of him. He's very well liked and respected by his peers and family. And in the end that's all that really matters.

The guy is 40 years old and has played for 20 years. 20 doesn't seem like too high of a number (if it's that high at all). I'm fairly confident some of my co-workers over the years haven't liked me either. So be it.
