The official come eat your crow about Diaz thread

Right on, Jeckle. You've been pretty much the only guy that didn't dismiss Diaz as a bum after those first 2 starts. I'll happily eat some crow. I can't begin to describe how good it feels that one of our pitching prospects finally went out and got the job done. I hope this is just the beginning for, Diaz.

Anyone think that once we acquire an arm and get Schoeneweis back to full strength that Diaz/Rauch or possibly both take on a role in the bullpen and we dump BP Jackson...I think it's a good possibility. I think Diaz would be electric out of the pen as a 6th/7th inning guy in place of Jackson.

I'd definately agree with that assessment.

I've been thinking the same thing. Diaz would look great out of the pen cuz you know he's going to throw strikes.

Call me crazy here, but I have a weird idea.

The Angels just recently got fed up with Ramon Ortiz sucking ass. So, to try to help him figure it out and get his focus back, demoted him to the bullpen. He was awesome there.

First of all, say we acquire a starter. I do like the idea of using Diaz in the pen. I think he could put up good numbers out there...better then the numbers Action Jackson is putting up anyways.

Secondly, say we acquire a second starter, and a starter in the everyday rotation is not involved. What if we were to hypothetically demote Jon Garland to the bullpen?

Personally, I feel this could be a very good move in more then one way, and it could backfire on us. Jon could take it, realize he has to get his s*** together, and he just starts focusing on every pitch, and he rarely makes a mistake, and he becomes a solid arm out of the pen. This is good for us because he can go 2-3 innings at a time for us if we need it. It also could light a fire under Scho's ass that if he doesn't get his ass in gear, he could be demoted to the pen and Garland could be promoted to the rotation.

Garland could also be a b**** about it, and suck complete ass, and just lose all focus, and become a huge problem for us. I see that very unlikely.

I hope that, assuming it would not cost a ton, management would atleast consider the idea I just proposed above. Try to keep Diaz at all costs, and then get another starter and demote Jon. It gives us 2 more good arms to go along with the 2 we already have down there, and if Politte can keep his head out of his ass, we could actually have a solid ass bullpen and could be a LOOGY away from having a dominant pen.

Another thing...maybe it's just me in saying this, but, if Action Jackson is so good for the clubhouse, maybe we could just ask him to retire and become a coach for us(some coach that actually is just paid to sit on his ass and encourage the team). He usually does more harm then good, and is at the point in his career where retirement could and very well should be an option. We give him his unconditional release, put him through waivers(and I have no doubt he'd clear...I don't think anyone needs an arm in the pen THAT badly) and he'd resume his duties as a "coach."

You people mocked me and called me crazy...

BUT I TOLD YOU DIAZ COULD GET THE JOB DONE...

That'll teach you to write someone off when they never even had a fair chance...

here is a suggestion -

it is one thing to post what you did, you have a right to, fair game comment whether anyione agreed or not

but it is not cool to call out another poster in your thread title

before I read your post i was predisposed to dislike anything you wrote because you called out a poster by name in a thread title and I just don't think that is cool at all

piss people off and it does come back to haunt

I've also been one not to crucify a kid that struggles as he's learning how to pitch in the majors. I've been defending guys like Garland, Cotts, Diaz, etc on a very consistent basis over an extended period of time.

It is great that Rauch and Diaz come through for us when we needed it so desperately. If they hadn't have performed so well, we'd really be mired in a nasty slump right now. Instead, we are basically treading water. Now, it's time to turn that around and put together a kick ass streak. Here's hoping yesterday's win was the start of an 8 game winning streak or so.

i disagree. There have been many people who didnt give up on him, me included. Just because everyone else didnt feel the need to make 10 threads about it doesnt mean they didnt feel the same
