July 12, 200421 yr The field: Thome Bonds Sosa Berkman Blalock Ortiz Tejada Palmeiro Who's gonna take it all?
July 12, 200421 yr To me all 4 of the NL hitters are better than the AL hitters for the AL derby. The RH pull hitters have the huge advantage at Minute Maid Field with the Crawford Boxes making a real short target out there. Sosa is going to be really handicapped as he likes to hit the ball to the center of the field a lot, which is dead mans land there. I am going to go with the hometown boy Lance Berkman.
July 12, 200421 yr Author I think Sosa will adjust and get real pull happy with a short porch staring him in the face.
July 12, 200421 yr I'm mad at the Home Run Derby, or actually myself. I was in Vegas for last years and earlier in the day, Anderson was at 40-1 odds. I told my dad I should put $50 on him, instead of just losing it to the blackjack dealer. Well, I didn't and could of won $2000. I pupped out.
July 12, 200421 yr Yesterday during the futures game, Tony Gwynn was saying that even though it's shorter to left field, there is the high wall, and when the roof is open the ball carries better to right, which, although further, has a much shorter wall.

If that is the case, Bonds is the hands down favorite. No one generates more power from a smoother swing than Barry.
July 12, 200421 yr I was pulling for Griffey since he is my favorite player but now I will be for Blalock.
July 12, 200421 yr Author Manny, i'm not sure...but he's injured a bit. He probly refused regardless though, who knows. I like how yesterday he said he couldn't play for the BoSox but said he's participate in the all star festivities. Then he pinch hit in the game anyway. What a joke.

I want to see a few bombs go out to straightaway center field Some of the bombs to left are going to be impossible to track
July 12, 200421 yr I'm gonna root for Blalock b/c he's the only one of those guys on my team in my dynasty in MVP Baseball.
July 13, 200421 yr Tejada shocked me. It was great to see Shammy whiff and be eliminated in the first round. Palmerio had a good showing for being so old and Berkman did one hell of a job.

To be honest, I was shocked at the way Sammy was swinging last night. Did you see him swing and miss at the first pitch? Man did he suck. Though I was glad he didn’t go to round 2. Like he said, He’ll be back next year and probably with a different bat.
