I have ESPN Football and I really like it. For $19.99 it's a great deal, good enough to take me away from Madden.

ESPN is good i dont think im getting Madden

Well if its a collector's edition, then no. Cause Any madden's that we have gotten over the years are lost/bad shape

I like Madden though but this game is pretty close to it

Definitely be getting madden, like I do every year.

I even gave ESPN a shot this year, played a few games, not really liking it. I'm willing to give it a few more chances though, get my 20 bucks out of it

989 used to be good for PS1 and then i thik they forgot PS2 was ever created

989 is by far the worst in any sports game in my opinion

A long time ago, 989 seemed to make pretty decent games, but thats long been over.

 

I remember the last time I didn't get Madden was when I decided to get the 1st year of NFL Quarterback Club for N64. IGN said it was the awesome game cause of the graphics and everything. It had way better graphics then Madden that year, but the game in general was just awful. Madden may not of been fancy but it was fun to play.

 

Games of came a hell of a long way since then and this year I won't be getting Madden, unless I end up playing it and decide its way better then ESPN. I'm really liking ESPN though.

 

If ESPN weren't 20 bucks, I'd of went with Madden though, hell, if it were 30 bucks compared to Madden at 50, I probably would of bought Madden...but you can't beat it for 20 bucks or the 15 that it is at Fye or Target.

Meh - I really don't like ESPN, I'm pretty dissappointed. It seems like the players run with a pole or something up their ass, and I generally don't like the gameplay. The presentation/graphics are solid, but I guess I'm just a Madden guy...

I bought ESPN 2K5 the other day, and while it is good, Madden is still better. The looks and presentation of 2k5 are superior, but the game play is not. The controls and movements are shoddy, and it selects players when you switch poorly.

 

The playbooks aren't as good, and the QB misses his target on wide open receivers up the middle by a wide margen quite a bit...and it's not because the QB is bad, it was McNabb missing Owens up the middle with 10 yards of open space around him in every direction. I thought they just made McNabb's accuracy poor, but then I tried with other QB's, I.E. Farve, Manning, Bledsoe...same s***.

 

The franchise mode is basically the same, but harder to use. Trades are a b**** as far as navigation, but the counter offer is nice.

 

One thing I love about it though is that when you challenge, you can choose what you want to challenge. In Madden, (04 at least) you didn't get to choose what you want to challenge and sometimes got screwed on that.

 

Another thing I noticed is that I've been called for intentional grounding SEVERAL times when I am one step away from the sidelines. Is there a new rule?
