White Sox could deal Lee or Konerko

Featured Replies

I wonder if that's exactly right.  Maggs cannot be given an arbitration-eligible offer of less than $11.2 million (an arbitration-eligible offer gets you a draft pick).  But I wonder if he couldn't be made a non-arbitration-eligible offer.

This is a CBA question that is probably pretty difficult to answer without digging into the nitty gritty of the CBA.

Maggs agent would be a fool to give away the leverage of arbitration. I just can't see that happening.

So basically we're talking about paying the New Carl Everett (but with a more serious condition) 12 M?

No thanks, I'll take Adrien Beltre for I-Rod type money instead. I like my risks with high upsides.

Sabean's always willing to trade prospects, and if they miss out on Maggs, they could certainly use Lee or Konerko. Matt Cain or Jesse Foppert would look very nice on the southside.

Getting Matt Cain in a deal would be so f***ing awesome. He's from the same town I'm from (I would have gone to the same high school he went to if I didn't go to a private school) and I got to see him pitch against my high school, and he was great. My high school's baseball team is always bad ass and sometimes one of the best in the state and sometimes nation, and he shut us down. I just have a good feeling about this guy. He's gonna be a very, very good pitcher as long as he avoids injury.

I don't want just a decent young arm, I want a STUD pitcher here. We need to get some big guns here to complement Buehrle and Garcia. A solid 1-2-3 at the top of your pitching rotation is VITAL to win a playoff spot, as well as a playoff series.

Can you say... Barry Zito. ;)
