He has shown pretty horrible control at Kanny so far so I say he needs to stay there. As excited as I was about him at first, I don't think he can be considered a top prospect until he can fix that control.

2004 stats:

Bristol- 7 G (6 starts), 1-2, 2.25 ERA, 24 IP, 8 R (6 ER), 36 K, 8 BB, 17 hits

Kannapolis- 6 starts, 1-1, 3.03 ERA, 32.2 IP, 13 R (11 ER), 27 K, 13 BB, 30 hits

I wouldn't say "horrible" per say, but he was walking more people than usual. He'll be in Kanny, but I can see a jump to W-S later in the season from him when he figures it out. He's still got plenty of time for a young, young man.

Hits to IP is a bit rough, but...

I'm sure they will start him out in Kanny next year to see what he can do before they promote him.

I guess horrible is a little strong, but he did walk 9 in his last 10.1 innings. This could also be due to him getting tired. However, that's never good to see.

Yeah, start him in Kanny to get those walk numbers down, and if he does well, move him up to W-S. He has plenty of time, he'll only be 19 next season.

Kannapolis- He is just out of HS, no need to rush him. If he is that good, he will put up the numbers and get a promo.

Agreed

The Sox have got to be more patient w/ their prospects. Keep him in the minors until he's mastered hitters at that level. If he never does, or if he gets hurt in the process, nuts -- move on. As good as his curve looks -- move on.
