He has pitched pretty well with boston, no reason for me to believe the yankees would have rocked him. If he gave up a couple runs then bring in pedro, but if it was not really needed he could have alittle extra rest.

In a seven run lead, leskanic. With a 1or 2 run lead pedro no doubt about that. Also i know lowe was starting on 2 days rest but he only threw 69 pitches through 6 innings. Why not send him out there to at least start the 7th inning? He will be on 5 days rest the next time he pitches either way.

That's a better question to ask. One hitter through 6 innings is hardly deserving of a removal. Francona, in all likelihood, was reminiscing back to last year when Grady was essentially fired for leaving Pedro out too long. I believe he lacked trust in Lowe completing another inning, despite his low pitch count.

I've seen some of the opinions on here of what White Sox fans think about their own team. Red Sox fans are ten times worse. I don't have to read that link to know what it says. That doesn't mean it is credible.

 

Those fans were probably calling for him to bench Damon and Bellhorn too and look how that turned out. Hell, they were chanting Pokey the other night when Bellhorn didn't make a play in Game 3, I believe.

 

I am not saying that Francona or other managers never make bad decisions. They are human. Everyone makes mistakes. But it is a lot easier for fans to "evaluate" a manager in hindsight. Sometimes managers make wrong decisions. Sometimes they make right decisisons and things still turn out wrong.

 

I'll admit, I questioned for a minute bringing in Pedro last night before I really thought about the situation. I thought he should have sat Bellhorn and possibly even Damon. Looks like my initial thoughts were wrong on all three!

Very simply...... just like he did when he took Schilling out the night before. When you are going to bring a starter out of the bullpen, it is best to let them start an innning, which is how they are used to coming into a game. Bringing a starter into the game as a reliever with men on base is taking them out of their element.

 

And what makes you think Pedro was tired? Christ, I have already told you it was his day to throw. Pitchers routinely throw a bullpen session in between starts. He was throwing 95-97 mph. Sure as hell doesn't seem like he was tired to me. If anything, my guess is that he didn't warm up enough.
