bmags Posted October 27, 2004 Share Posted October 27, 2004 so i registered in Septemtem, at my high school, which is also a voting place...they said i would get my voter registration card in the mail...but i didn't get it yet...and its only a week left...i'm getting kind of worried i won't get it at all... but say that happens...could i still go to a polling place come election day and wouldn't they have me on a list of voters? If, in fact, you don't receive your card go to your polling place and show your license. You may be on the Voter rolls. If you aren't yet on the Voter rolls, you should be able to ask for a provisional ballot. If you are still to be processed, your vote will be counted. Don't let them keep you down dude, vote. bmags Posted October 27, 2004 Author Share Posted October 27, 2004 but, i read this article in Newsweek that sometimes only one tenth of the provisional ballots are counted...which is the suck if you are the nine tenths that took the time out of our busy, wintery days to wait in lines and do our most civic and democratic duty. Most likely they have your information and your registered, but they just haven't had the chance to send out your card yet. I remember it took a while to get my card and that wasn't an election year. You may be surprised at the offices or referendums you will be asked to vote on. Be prepared. In Illinois, I always enjoyed voting on the UofI trustees. Hell, I'd vote the yellow banana ticket, a couple Birch society types, right wing nut jobs and liberal nut cases. I figured, why the hell am I voting for UofI trustees? With the UofI trustees I would first vote for any females in an obvious student party. Then I would start splitting. Birch Society here, Communist there. I just know at some point in the future I'm going to be asked if I ever voted for a Commie or Socialist and I must have at least once.
