AnthraxFan93
or Tadahito Iguchi Both would cost about 2-3 mil and be what this team needs.
T R U
why would we throw 2-3 million at a guy who is a career .274 hitter in JAPAN and went 2-17 when he played against US players?? no thanks, Willie Harris is a better option, and should be our starting 2B

CubKilla
=Willie against LHP, or most pitching for that matter Agreed. Harris sucks. All that speed and can't steal bases. Just what a team of "grinders" needs.
T R U
=Willie against LHP, or most pitching for that matter ok well he was hitting over .300 till he just got benched for some reason.. His OBP was still real good its called improvement, and he has improved every year..
AddisonStSox
This entire thread should be blown up. Neither Willie "MVP" Harris or Yoshi or Honda or whoever should be starting next year. The starter needs to be Uribe and Kenny needs to aquire a shortstop(and yes, I also endorse Polanco).

How does that help the leadoff hitter? It doesn't.. Polanco is not the answer. Why is this so hard to see? WE need a leadoff hitter, Polanco can't lead-off.. SO stop with that talk, it is pointless. Although, if we got Polanco, I'd prefer that Uribe played SS and Polanco play second. Either way, this option is better than some second rate 2B from Japan or Willie. AnthraxFan93
And Cabrera can lead off? No, but if we were to get the 2nd best FA ss, he would be the 2 hole.. Polanco, is not needed and would be overpaid, even if he get min. salary coming here. I didn't know you knew this at all, but the title of the thread is leadoff 2b..something Cabrera is neither of. The starting lineup for your 2005 Chicago White Sox Batting first and playing second base...from Japan...Tadahito Iguchi Batting second and playing shortstop...from Colombia...Orlando Cabrera Sitting on the bench and doing absolutely nothing...last years most suprising youngster and the probable heir apparent to Jose Valentin...Juan Uribe NOT HAPPENING! Yes, but if I remember correctly, you've been singing Cabrera's praises. If I have confused with someone else, I apologize. But saying Polanco is not a fit because he's not a lead off hitter, and saying Cabrera is in spite of the fact he's not a lead off hitter just doesn't balance. Yeah, so let's bring in a japanese import to swing and miss at those curveballs instead. :rolly
T R U
Willie Harris CAN lead off for us man you people need to learn that some things take time and learning, insted of trying to overpay for someone.. Harris can do it, you gotta let the kid learn and grow.. he will be a better player this year

SuperSteve
I am not sold on this guy, .274 scares me deeply. How is he one of the smartest hitters then? For a million would I do it, yes, but not for much more. Alot of questions were said of Shingo when we signed him. Some are great and some are terrible, it is a game of risks. Something he could give us though, is a continued boost in the Japanese market. We would be among the top four or five teams with two of their beloved sons, as I am sure he is somewhat of a well known name. I would take the chance, but not starting out of ST unless he earns it. santo=dorf
I always thought Polanco was from Lation America.. Who knew! :rolly :dips*** OMG!!! I was talking about the fact that he has been playing Japanese baseball. Where has Polanco been playing all of these years, in Latin America? :rolly Why am I even wasting my time arguing with someone who claims he is " to smart for a Demarcate?" Whatever the f*** that is supposed to mean. :headshake

HIGH OBS, and steal bases. play great D and ALso someone who can lead-off. Then we can worry about getting the 2nd best SS in the FA market this offseason, in Orlando to hit in the 2 hole. Though I think we could sign your lovetoy in Polcano.. I think the Barons are in need of a 2b.

For the record, I'm not one of these posters obsessed with Polanco, I'm obsessed with trading for Randy Johnson.
