DBAHO
Probably deserved to go in the rumors thread, but hell, I'll start a new thread. With the Dodgers signing Jeff Kent to a 2 year $17 million deal, there are reports they could trade or non - tender Alex Cora. It's another infield option we could certainly look at, it would re-unite Alex with his brother Joey, and I'm sure Ozzie and KW would love that. Of course it all depends on what happens at 1B and 3B for the Dodgers. Do they keep Beltre, and play Choi at 1B, or will they use Cora or Kent for one of those positions possibly? And Cora hit .264 with 10 HR's and 47 RBI's, with 47 BB's and only 41 K's in 2004. He's a lefty hitter and made $1,300,000.
maggsmaggs
I would rather have Willie playing 2nd than Cora, Willie can put up decent numbers will a full season and he's wheels and just needs to learn how to use them.

That at bat vs. the flubs last year really sticks out in my mind when I think of him and if I'm not mistaken he's one hell of a fielder too, isn't he?? Chisoxfn
i'd be a fan of Cora. Solid defensively and can play both infield positions. Also a quality guy. If he gets non-tendered, he'd be a fantastic signing. Adding another quality role player just makes sense. Plus he's only getting better. Chisoxfn
Alright lets take a little closer look at this. Cora is 29 and made just 1.3 million this past season. He's going to be released pretty much in the prime of his career. He's also a versatile player who can play both shortstop and 2nd, although is a much better 2nd baseman. Shows decent pop for a 2nd baseman (10 HR's), but isn't much of a base thread. However, rarely strikes out and has a pretty decent eye. .364 OBP would look awful nice in the two hole. As far as his splits go, his 3 year splits (albeit only 100 or so ab's against lefties) and he is a .286 hitter, which is better then his splits against righties. By the way I should also add that he was playing in the best pitchers park in all of baseball not named after a Pets store.
witesoxfan
If he's non-tendered, sure. If he's not...no chance.
YASNY
If we can't get Cairo or Polanco as the veteran IF, Cora would do nicely.
