Angels Sign

Featured Replies

Angels signed outfielder Steve Finley, who had been with the Dodgers, to a two-year contract with an option for 2007.

Finley, who picked Anaheim over Detroit and San Francisco, will help the Angels, but probably not as much as they hope. He's overrated defensively, and for all the talk of his career-high 36 homers, he had an OPS of only 823 last season. A substantial drop-off at age 40 doesn't seem all that likely, but the Angels are getting just a good player, not a star, for their $9 million or so per season

Guess not cheat. ;)

Say goodbye to Renteria.

I'll edit the spelling of the title here real quick before anyone notices...hehe.

I do not know what to make of this move, quite honestly.

Damn..

:huh -- I'm confused..

Finley's probably not going to put up much in the way of numbers. His defense is also highly overrated, that should cost his piching staff a few runs, and ultimately victories on the season. They would have been better off spending the extra $$ for a guy with + Fielding and + bat still...Beltran.

I agree, it's not like they do not have the money. They have over 40 million to spend i believe this off-season.

Spend $18 mill tops on Beltran(and possibly much less), $12 mill on Pavano, and $8 mill on Renteria.

Why did they not do that?

With Beltran no longer going to Anaheim...I think I honestly see him remaining in Houston. Or maybe that's just because I do not want to see him end up in NY. Not sure which.

Beltran's agent will be going to an anaheim at a later date. I honestly don't think he will sign for a couple of months.
