December 13, 200421 yr Fan-f***ing-Tastic. Bill Murray and Owen Wilson are great together, especially with a solid script like this one. Great ancillary characters in this one as well, specifically Willem Dafoe. Visually it's great, definately a step up for Wes Anderson. Really cool stuff going on, without ruining anything, the shots in the interior of the boat and all of the things underwater were especially good. Screw Christmas dinner with your family, go out and see this instead on Christmas Day. And you can quote me on that.
December 13, 200421 yr I'm seeing it on the 15th in Chicago. I can't wait. I am in love with Wes Anderson.
December 13, 200421 yr Author I'm seeing it on the 15th in Chicago. I can't wait. I am in love with Wes Anderson. Is it only playing in like 1 theater in all of Chicago like it was in all of California?
December 13, 200421 yr Is it only playing in like 1 theater in all of Chicago like it was in all of California? I don't know. It's an "early screening." I don't think it's listed in the papers or anything.
December 13, 200421 yr Only liked Tennenbaums. Murray as a main role will be good, but won't rush to see it. Wish Anderson would get some new actors to work with. I see Dafoe has a role, but what is with Owen Wilson in everything he does? I understand they are friends but when everything becomes an "IN" type environment, it can get stale. Look at Kevin Smith movies.

Look at Kevin Smith movies. Kevin Smith is a boner. He never had real professional actors to work with. Don't tell me about Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, they are crap. Wes Anderson is one of the best filmmakers in the industry. Saying he needs to get new "actors" is blatantly idiotic. What does getting a new actor accomplish? An actors job is to be somebody different, what would replacing Owen Wilson accomplish? A whole lot of nothing. I'm sorry. Don't take it personal, I am just in love with Anderson and his movies.
December 13, 200421 yr It's officially playing in one theatre in NYC and one in LA. Tried to get tickets tonight but all the showings in NYC were sold out. It gets full release on December 25. He hasn't really had time to get stale, like a Kevin Smith movie. He started with Bottle Rocket, a funny stupid movie in 1994. Personally, I think when the stories and settings are completely different, the same grouping of actors stay fresh and compelling provided that the chemistry is right. Kevin Smith got stale because all the stories were the same, with similar characters and the same kinds of dialogue and story. Wes Anderson definitely doesn't do that. Oh yeah, Owen Wilson cowrote this movie I'll wager. Like he did with Royal and Rocket.

Owen Wilson co-wrote in Anderson's other three.
