In my opinion, stay away from Odalis Perez.

I gotta feeling we will trade for someone. Hudson, Vazquez, whoever...I just do not see us signing someone.

 

Maybe I am just not fond with having Odalis Perez here at $8 mill per or Matt Clement at $9-10 mill per.

Eh, I picked Perez in the poll, but this is specifically my order:

 

1: Get Hudson, sign him to an extension. If they don't sign him to an extension, it's not worth it.

 

2: Sign Perez. Fill up the rotation, and balance it out with another lefty.

 

3: Sign Clement. I'd rather would have Perez, but Clement would do.

 

4: Sign Renteria. I'd put this one as interchangeable with Clement. I want Renteria. A lot.

Polanco should get five million and a starting job next year. I don't see us adding him and someone of perez's caliber.

too many choices...can't make one. But I'm hoping the Garland/Konerko to AZ, Vazquez to the Sox deal is off now. I can take losing either Lee or Konerko, but not both.

I doubt he gets 5 mill, I think 4 mill max. Although the Cards could get desperate if they lose Renteria and overbid.

For all of those advocating a trade for Hudson...who do you plan on trading to aquire him? Do you think Beane will just give him up out of the goodness of his heart, because I can't envision a scenario that this takes place.

Hell for the most part you trade what you have to get Hudson. BMac, Anderson are a couple I would be ok with parting with... wether or not that would be enough who knows...but KW should atleast check it out. Plus the Sox have a ton of young arms in Diaz Adkins Cotts....I am sure KW could come up with a good enough package for Hudson... hell he was ready to give up a ton for Randy Johnson and I don't think it will take anywhere near that much to get Hudson because Beane realizes he will probably have to part with one of the big 3 anyway..... Of course its easy for me to spend someone elses money though

Are we expecting Jermaine to absolutely destroy the baseball next year (and that is if he stays healthy)? How much longer can we rely on Frank and the largely inconsistent Paul Konerko?

 

I agree we need to improve our middle defense and our pitching but its not going to make a bit of difference if we can't put some runs up on the board.

Jermaine will now be the 5 hole hitter and I don't have a problem with that. But some of the Sox younger guys will have to step up. At the same time, if the Sox sign another good starter, the staff and defense should look really good.

 

Plus I wonder if the Sox are going to be moving the fences back a bit.

That lineup doesn't lack power at all. It's definitely not going to be as powerful as in years past but thank god for that, I'm tired of living and dying by the long ball. I sure as hell hope we sign either Clement or Perez. That plus adding a middle infielder that could platoon with willie(which could be ginter if he's the ptbnl) I'd be very happy with this trade and absolutely thrilled with this offseason. It's very important that a team that can't compete with the big boys salary wise put together a solid bullpen. Right now our bullpen is absolutely awesome, add either Clement or Perez and our pitching staff would be absolutely stacked, with more speed in the lineup and more balance. I think and I hope there will be a starting pitcher coming the sox way very soon.
