December 14, 200421 yr While taking my shower, I was thinking about this deal, and, just about a lot of things White Sox in general. Let me lay out my problem first, then I'll ask the questions, see if anyone has any insight towards the answer. First, let me put out the starting staff, bullpen, and lineup as I see it, with the number next to their name indicating the number on the 25 man roster (so, no specific order, obviously). First, the starting staff: Buehrle - 1 Garcia - 2 Contreras - 3 Garland - 4 Diaz/Grilli/Schoney/FA Pitcher - 5 And, the bullpen of (this is where one of my problems lie -- does this move kick Adkins out of the bullpen?): Adkins - 6 Cotts - 7 Hermanson - 8 Politte - 9 Vizcaino - 10 Marte - 11 Shingo - 12 And, here's the lineup: Burke/Davis - 13 and 14 Konerko - 15 Harris - 16 (Another question lies here. I'll alude to it later.) Uribe - 17 Crede - 18 Thomas - 19 Rowand - 20 Pods - 21 Dye - 22 And finally, the bench (Good news for Cheat, I think you'll appreciate this -- it looks like Timo Perez will be the odd man out.): Everett - 23 Gload - 24 Valdez - 25 Burke/Davis - 13/14 (Whichever one doesn't start). Alrighty then. First, my question about the bullpen -- do the White Sox normally carry 11 or 12 pitchers? If it's 12, then my question is answered. However -- if it's 11, does that mean Adkins/Cotts and the rest of 'em will be fighting for that one spot? Also, while I really hope that Ginter is the final player of the deal, I'm starting to doubt it more and more. It would kick one of Valdez/Gload/Everett off of the 25-Man, and Ozzie wants, and needs all three of them. I wouldn't call Valdez a need, but if Ginter were to be included, and Valdez were to be sent to AAA, we'd have ONE SS on the roster -- IIRC, Ginter doesn't play SS. I think that's the jist of my questions. I just can't see Harris getting the full reigns of second base, especially how brutal he is against lefties (maybe they're considering Valdez vs. lefties as a platoon?), so that's why Ginter would be such a good addition. But I'm going around in circles -- because if he were to be added, who would we dump? I'd prefer to dump Everett, see if there's ANYONE out there who will take the four million for a low prospect, and use that money towards Clement/Perez. But this is the ideal situation, and of course, Kenny will do anything to make the situation everything but ideal... EDIT: OK, I see that in Kenny's conference call, he says the PTBNL will be a minor leaguer, so screw that thought. Also, you should probably throw my Everett thing out the window -- totally forgot about the whole "Frank Thomas injury" thing... :banghead

Now I think a lot depends on if the sox sign clement or odalis if they sign either of them I believe you'll see them go with 11 pitchers and have that last bullpen spot go to Cotts for the simple fact that he's a lefty, jmo.
December 14, 200421 yr Adkins won't be on the roster, imo. He may be somewhere else though. I also doubt Valdez will be on there (I think they sign someone, but if they don't, it will be Valdez). At the same time I think the Sox will carry one more outfielder (Timo). Steve Phillips is on ESPN News right now. Don't know if this is a replay or not though.

December 14, 200421 yr Cotts is a lefty...Adkins I could have sworn isn't. Ya, I meant cotts, my bad.
December 14, 200421 yr I'm rooting for Arnie to win the last spot as a LOOGY. Leaving Cotts to start in Charlotte
