BitTorrent's Death Knell?

Featured Replies

check out www.slyck.com they got the story on it.

The site is not the end all be all of file sharing but they're usually accurate with the stories.

There are still plenty of sites around.

True, but alot are going down with the pressure on em now from the MPAA with the lawsuits they're putting out to the site owners. Suprnova being as big as it was, theres no doubt it was a huge target but even alot of the smaller sites i used to visit are going down too. Due to the centralized natural of bit torrent and the tracker servers, they're very easy targets. It's basically the situation Napster ran into back in the day.

Apparently the folks who ran SuprNova are making a thing called "eXeem".

From what I gather, it's decentralized and each person acts as a tracker rather than a server.

Still trying to grasp the concept of it, but my guess is that it will be harder to shut it down since there are millions of little trackers (Us) instead of a few big ones.

Exactly...

We thought it was over after Napster...

I went and got Audiogalaxy....Kazaa...and now I'm on Limewire

God damn, I miss Audiogalaxy.

That place had f***in' EVERYTHING and was lightning-fast.

After that one got torpedoed, I really stopped downloading for the most part.

Now I basically just go to band websites and some music-related sites like epitaph.

There are still plenty of sites around.

Would you like to share some?

Newsgroups are good but you can't always get what you want. If you know how to use IRC, you can go to channel #BT on Efnet. They also have a site at http://www.btefnet.com.

I have no idea what IRC is but I went to that site. Very fast downloads so far, but I'm looking for movies not as much television.

And now it appears BTEfnet is down, the chat says NO TORRENT SITE TALK so it looks like web sites linking to trackers are going down everywhere.

Well the dl I have going off of http://www.btefnet.com is still working, but I'm starting to get depressed here. Anyone know the next good source for dl'ing movies other than Limewire and Kazaa?

eXeem sounds like it will be. It's from the makers of SuprNova.

EVerything about it is very hush hush right now though.

So what's the deal, do they not really care about people dl'ing television shows?

guess not as much, you can tape em with your vcr or tivo so i would think that it would be covered.

BTEFnet seems to be alive again maybe because they dont host movies on there but just TV shows. I wouldn't count on any BT sites lasting long right now though.
