Steve Stone was the only guy in that organization with any integrity and they forced him out for it. Just goes to show how sorry assed the Flubbs organization is.

December 17, 200421 yr Ever? I don't know what makes one the "best" announcer ever, but Stone's absolutely on my short list of most enjoyable announcers ever. Great insight for the game, keeps it interesting and lively even with the nasal monotone, and a sly sense of humor. He's very very good, IMHO.

If you're not limiting this to baseball then my vote goes to Pat Foley from the former pro hockey team known as the Blackhawks. Hearing him call a game was awesome even when the Slacks started to suck in recent years.

That assbag Tallon is SUCH a homer, he makes Harry Caray sound like he was rooting for the Mets!

December 18, 200421 yr I'm not sure if this fits the tread, but not worth starting a new one.... So many of the dips*** cub fans always say "the cubs make money hand over fist, we should have a payroll close to the Yankees" while it is true the cubs make a ton of money, the cub fans forget something that I always try to explain to my friends who say it (to the same one at least 10 times) THE CUBS ARE A PART OF A CORPORATION!! The owners of the corporation have the cubs as a conduit to make money, this is the same trap the Angels fell into with Disney. (they didn't spend a ton of money on the Angels when they owned them, and what they did was an effort to boost attendance and make profit) It would be horrible business to operate a part of a corporation that either loses money or barely breaks even, it makes no sense to have it then....

You gotta prove your yes-man credentials before you can get a job in Slackhawks management. Foley calls em like he sees em and that goes a long way with me.
