Chisoxfn Posted December 16, 2004 Share Posted December 16, 2004 - Talked about killing 62 deer on his property right now; Rick White, Ginter, Dan Wright used to go hunting with him, but none of the guys on the current club (I'm sure no one gives a crap, lol)  - The Spod/Viz deal changes the team big time. Hopefully Pod gets on base and that it will be sad loosing Carlos but they are getting better speed and thankfully better defense in the outfield.  - They ask him about the quotes in the Southtown yesterday; Says he just got done reading it and says there are no quotes from him and that Carlos was a great guy and that he'd love to hear him in the clubhouse and that is incorrect quote  - Said some guys and maybe members of the coaching staff are happy that he's gone, but won't give names  - Says certain guys on every team think this guy or that guy is selfish, not really a gap because Lee was a latin player  - Wondered where Foulke's numbers were when he was with the Sox (They asked him about what it was like to see Keith not give up a run till the final game of the world series); Seems like everytime they have a closer they struggle with the Sox; Was at a couple of the games in St. Louis  - Said Keith worried about the money issue a lot with the Sox and not as much about the production  - They say he got pounded at times and that he's more like a 19 or 20 game winner; The Sox want to improve on cutting down the hits to around one per inning. Guys know he's going to attack the strike zone and swing early and he's not going to go out there falling behind in the count (Coop doesn't want him to fall behind the count that is); Laughs when they talk about his stats and says maybe I am a strikeout pitcher  - Right now he thinks both Burke/Davis are backup catchers but that neither is going to catch 140 games  - Ask about Pyrz; They say anyone that makes the team better will be a welcome acquisition and mention how there are some guys on the team from when he's with the Twinks and that if he comes to the southside hopefully he plays hard here  - Ask about steroids; He thinks its bs how players are cheating and the guys that don't cheat get hosed in a sense, says its bad for the sport of baseball. He never said those words, he just said that it was baseless and he was never confronted about this, giving no reason for the author to think this.
