Timo Perez Signs One Year Deal

I wasn't around last offseason, just out of curiousity, what was the majority opinion on letting Everett walk and sign with The Expos last year?

This deal is good only for the reason because:

we couldn't afford to offer him arbitration and he wouldn't sign a "reasonable" deal with us.

Timo's defense is flat out awful.  His arm is solid, but his range is worse than almost everyone else in baseball....besides Carl Everett.  Because of his terrible range, he has to play on the warning track for almost every hitter.  With Rowand, Podsednik, Dye, Everett, Gload, and Escobar, we had absolutely no use for him.  Terrible signing in my opinion, but thankfully it wasn't a multiyear deal.  Money could have been spent much more effectively.

Honestly I have to disagree because Escobar might not be healthy. Timo is insurance so we never have to see Bustard again.

Gload>timo in the outfield and with the bat. Yes, i do kno whow bad gload is in the outfield.

I'm not going to get all worked up over $1mil, but you can pick up a minor league FA better than Timo.

Timo is pretty bad.
