January 11, 200521 yr Well, with Cairo signing with the Mets, no action on the Alex Cora front, and talks with Iguchi coming to a standstill, should Kenny look into Rob Mackowiak? That's right...he's still available. Yes, the same Mackowiak that killed the Northsiders during that fateful double-header. Mackowiak, an Oak Lawn native, has become one of the best bench players in the game. Rob, a third baseman by trade, can play 3B, 2B, OF, and an emergency 1B. Often hitting clean-up in the Pirates' dilapidated batting order, Rob can rake. My question: should Kenny take a look at the life-long Sox fan and consider inking him to a multi-year deal? In my opinion, Mackowiak could not only contribute to the 2005 Sox, but also the 2006 Sox and beyond. Rob gives Kenny security in dealing Crede (if he fails to step it up this year) and can become a first-class stopgap until Josh Fields is ready. .246/ .319/ .420/ .739 17HR/ 75RBI 2003 Salary: $335,000

January 11, 200521 yr He would definitely fit win with the alphabet soup aspect of players acquired by the Sox this winter.
January 11, 200521 yr No thanks. The team is fine so far. We already have Gload and Timo (for some reason but thats another story) so there is no room for him.
January 11, 200521 yr i wouldnt say no need for him... one its a good move for the fans to bring in a hometown guy 2nd he can play multiple positions which is important especially if crede falters.. and than you can never have enough cub killers on your team
January 11, 200521 yr It would be a great move if it was combined with non-tendering Timo. Oh wait never mind.
January 11, 200521 yr omg, this would be a good move he can play like every position he can hit and hes a cub killer, what more do you need
