TLAK
CWSGuy406 asked about this in the closed Harris thread. Jabroni, can you compile a list for me of rookies, or second year players, who hit .300? Just a guess -- but I'd be willing to bet that that number would be less than five. I don't want to reopen the old arguement but this question is intriguing on its own merit. It is a much rarer accomplishment than I thought. This shows players who broke in since 2000 and hit .300 with 300 or more AB in their 1st or 2nd year. Rookie year = first time they had 130 AB. It's a mighty short list, if you get a rookie who hits .300 it is truely something special. We should appreciate the job Burke and Gload did, they hit .333 and .321 but didn't have enough ABs: 120 and 234. It means that he has to platoon with a right-handed 2nd baseman that can actually hit lefties. You are arguing over semantics.

If you have a utility infielder than can hit lefties decent it shouldn't matter. You face a lefty on the average of what once every five games? I am sure if we just had willie as are primary second baseman valdez or someone else brought in could put up similar numbers against lefties that miles does. What a joke. I'd still rather have one good 2nd baseman that can hit both righties and lefties. Hopefully, that guy is Iguchi. Maybe he even knows how to steal a base, unlike Willie. Could have sworn i said valdez or some other guy could be brought it to hit lefties. Didn't have to come from free agency. I am pretty sure valdez could hit lefties ad well as miles does and that is all we would be looking for. You are gonna bank on iguchi being are primary second baseman? Willie is a platoon 2nd baseman at best. How can you say he can't hit lefties? Sure, it looks to be a problem -- but, all of this judgement is coming from less than 200 ABs against lefties in the majors. Hitting lefties was never a problem for him in the minors, either. Say what you want about his attitude, but Harris can be a solid player. And, if you're trying to imply that Aaron f***ing Miles is a better player than Harris, then.... Ugh.
