February 14, 200521 yr Just a story about Thomas ridiing with Conseco in his Ferrari after a card show in Miami, they were challenged to a street race, were going 130 and came to a curve on the expressway and Canseco lost control, went into a spin, but then saved it before they hit anything. Funny quote about Thomas though: I've never in my whole life seen such a big guy look so scared. Frank thought for sure I'd killed us both. He was white, just stone-cold white---which is kind of unusual for a black man.

February 14, 200521 yr If that's the only mention of Frank Thomas in the book, good deal. I would be absolutely crushed to hear Frank's name involved with steroids. Edited February 14, 200521 yr by greasywheels121
February 14, 200521 yr Author QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) If that's the only mention of Frank Thomas in the book, good deal. I would be absolutely crushed to hear Frank's name involved with steroids. I haven't read the whole book, but that story is the only pages on which Frank Thomas is mentioned according to the index. Frank has been his size or close to it since playing football at Auburn, so I have never really worried much about him and steroids. Although maybe some 'roids would help him heal more quickly! There is not a whole lot of difference...obviously, there is a difference, but consider that one is when Frank is about 21 or so, and the other is in his mid to late 30s. Frank Thomas has constantly said he would be very willing to take a urine test, and that he has been for steroid testing from the beginning. To be a tight end at one of the more prolific colleges in college football, you have to be decent sized. If Thomas was mentioned with steroids, as in he took them...I would laugh...because there is no way it's true.

I'm not really worried about ever hearing his name in these kind of conversations. I have cards of him when he was playing little league, and he was a beast then. However, it'd just crush me. He's always been my favorite baseball player/athlete. Frank was the reason I became a Sox fan, and there was a time, where I liked Frank more than the team.
February 14, 200521 yr When Frank was a tight end at Auburn he was pretty damn big. I think if he was on steroids there is a pretty good chance they would have suspended him or kicked him off the team, the Tigers don't stand for s*** like that.

Ditto, Frank was a rookie for the Sox when I started really watching baseball he is by far my favorite athlete of all-time. When he is inducted into the Hall of Fame I will be in the crowd at Cooperstown cheering him on.

I was at the hall of fame this fall and decided right then that the next time I would be back was for Frank's induction.

Can't be a bone marrow doner if your taking 'roids..
February 14, 200521 yr There's no way Frank is/was a roid eater. Unlike most of the other named roid eaters mentioned in the book, Frank was a sure thing. He was hitting towering HR's in the early 90's & he still is. The Sox should be marketing him this summer as The Natural.
