February 14, 200521 yr http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/8194419 I'm expecting a lot of these to start coming out. I figure the Sox will be right about the middle in all of them. Too much talent to go lower, and too many questions to go higher.
February 14, 200521 yr WTF? Twins at 6. Emerging superstars Johan Santana, Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer will become the best in their league at their positions, if they aren't already Morneau isn't even played to be the best first basemen and niether is Mauer in my opinion. I can't argue against Santana though.
February 14, 200521 yr Peter Gammons is saying on ESPN that if Joe Mauer is healthy the Twins have a good shot to be in the World Series. I disagree with that soo strongy, even with a healthy Mauer I don't see them being better than NYY or BOS.
February 14, 200521 yr I dont think Cleveland, Cincinnati, philly or NYM are better than us. I say we are about 12th until we prove otherwise. Edited February 14, 200521 yr by Chisoxmatt
February 14, 200521 yr QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Konerko > Morneau AJ > Mauer, at least right now For the price morneau>konerko. In as little as year or two money aside it will be morneau>konerko. I am sure not many will agree with me. Edited February 14, 200521 yr by qwerty

February 14, 200521 yr QUOTE(shakes @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) That is a pretty bold statement for 493 combined, major league at bats. You know it. lol watch Mauer bats 400 and Morneau hits 60 homers.
February 14, 200521 yr what the f*** are they talkin about? morneau and mauer best at their position? thats the biggest bs ive ever heard. id take hafner over morneau anyday. and mauer? even heard of I-rod? who care what these guys say. they dont kno s***
February 14, 200521 yr I think are optimism got the best of us. If we assume Hernandez, Dye, & Everett are going to have somewhere near their 3 yr avgs for playing time it's not easy to be so optimistic. Probably because of the publicity surrounding the trade all eyes are mostly on Pods. If he swims the Sox will be in good shape. If he sinks KW will never hear the last of that trade. i prefer to believe that moving to a hitter's park is going to help Pods like it did Uribe.

February 14, 200521 yr QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Peter Gammons is saying on ESPN that if Joe Mauer is healthy the Twins have a good shot to be in the World Series. I disagree with that soo strongy, even with a healthy Mauer I don't see them being better than NYY or BOS. Everyone thinks our decrease in power is a negative on our team. No one is taking our increase in pitching, speed, defense as a positive. All that power never won us anything, it was hit or miss. Lots of power costs lots of money and sacrfices your ability to have deep rotation, pen, and such. No one wants to recognize that we had very little power last year with no Frank and Maggs for 2/3 of the season and still hit 200+ homers and scored a ton of runs. Now we have a healtyh everett, paulie, dye, frank at some pt, and rowand. Not to mention the cell turns uribe, crede, AJ, iguchi into potential 20+ homer guys. And now that we have better pitching both in the roto and pen our homers given up at home should decrease. The only way the sox look good is if you do your homework and examine the changes very closely. The only people who seem to do that are us the fans and a few in the local media. Everyone else in the national media everywhere just looks at it in terms of black and white and that jsut wont cut it for reliable baseball knowledge.
February 14, 200521 yr QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) i prefer to believe that moving to a hitter's park is going to help Pods like it did Uribe. What are you talking about. Juan Uribe came from a hitters park. He played at Coors field! Edited February 14, 200521 yr by Chisoxmatt

February 14, 200521 yr QUOTE(ptatc @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) I agree that morneau>konerko, although PK will still be a good player. However Mauer>>AJ. Explain to me how Mauer>>AJ. AJ is a career .294 hitter. Mauer has 100 career AB in only 35 games. He still needs to prove himself. and until then AJ>Mauer.
